Gilbreizhyem Torzhyebohn and his journal, names, consequences of war, and a letter from Mishor

Gilbreizhyem Torzhyebohn, his first name is derived from Gabriel and the meaning is much the same (God is my strength, devoted to God, a hero of God, depending on who is translating). Not sure which meaning the Kamenan leans towards more, but it's along that vein. Maybe God's champion, as in the one God would send forth to do His work and make things happen. He might just go by Gilbrei among friends. He was a friend, neighbor, and associate of Keishan Kei'ur/Pelkuhr Sollit and was the one who made it possible for the Klamon who were taken for the experiments to be freed. He kept a record and somehow Danrick Mishor ended up with the original documents and Mishor made several copies, one of which he gave to Sray. It is not an easy read.

These girls and boys, because that is what they are, children, they are going through so much. I can't fathom what must have gone through NAME'S head to come up with this disgusting idea. The Humans volunteered, what would possess them to do that I will never know, but the Klamon had no choice. They have had their innocence ripped away by people wishing to exploit them. I had to make an excuse to leave the room. It made me physically sick to see what they had done to them.

This one girl, I can barely bring myself to write it, but if nothing survives of me but this record I want it to be known, this poor girl, so distressed by her ordeal, they said she ate her offspring. More than once. I think it was the only thing the poor girl could think to do to save her misbegotten child from whatever fate these people have planned for them. They were expecting another from her and had her under watch and muzzled to prevent a repeat.

How do they not see this is wrong?

The speed at which darkness takes over the hearts of man is astonishing.

I have to get them out of here, but I can not do it alone.

---
If I burn in hell for what I have done, I will endure it gladly. I broke my oaths and I would do it again. The secrecy of the Meim is not worth the lives they have destroyed.

I told Keishan. His rage burned hot as a furnace. He would have destroyed it all single-handedly in that moment, I am sure, constructs or no. There would have been nothing left but ash.

Now the careful work begins to find enough allies among the Meim to make freeing them possible. I know I can't do it alone, they have them secured so tight it would take me days and we wouldn't have days. They would fight to the death to keep this secret.

We got them out, all of them. NAME paid for his crimes with his life. Would have preferred a trial, but he killed NAME trying to stop us and there was no holding Keishan and the others back after that. They weren't going to let us free them quietly.

You could see the fire for miles behind us. The glow lit the sky like Behl coming over the horizon. Keishan said he would protect me. I have to hide. I broke my oath, they won't let that stand. I can't go back after that. I won't go back.

Just when I thought it couldn't get any worse. They bombed Holahth. A half dozen of the victims and their families had returned to their homes there. No confirmation yet as to the number of casualties, but I suspect this was pushed to bury any trace of what the Brotherhood did.

It was even bigger than I thought. Close to a hundred Klamon were dumped off the relay road between *school* and *school* along the Terilash river.

There are no peace negotiations. I'm sure the Brotherhood is pushing the conflict to overshadow what they did to start it. It has spread to Storilohn and Envan. I'm sure Ela'yas and Gollan aren't far behind. The fabric of what society was is being torn apart.

Kallon Hillenbohn Sollit is named after a Getier legend. A great warrior, champion of his people. He is credited with showing Getier how to manipulate fire/heat, bringing it up from the depths of Lemy'es and giving Getier dominion over it. Or maybe pulling it down from Behl, reaching for that closest star and channeling its warmth.

Janef is a family name, unsure of the meaning yet and Sray is the Getier word for hope.

With the wars the Klamon races were pushed back towards their ancestral lands. Before the wars there was some general mixing, not overly common, but it happened. You might find a Toltkraets with a Getier surname for example and mixed race Klamon could be found here and there, but after the wars fresh mixing was just about non-existent and the traces of it slowly vanished over the 100+ years of isolation. Maybe you have a Getier with a little hint of manipulating electricity or an Iezdlai equally good at raising and lowering temperatures, but for the most part the races locked in their separate traits again because of their forced re-isolation post wars.

The Getier bore the majority of the blame for the war by the time the dust settled. The Brehtsoln might claim some of it, especially given Kallah's part, but Keishan and those with him probably bore the brunt of the responsibility in leveling the school and he was probably the one who did in the man that headed the project, actually. The three casualties during the liberation were probably the top three involved in the project, or one of the ones who helped free them and then the two top men who spearheaded the project.

There is some trade still between the races. The coastal Brehtsoln and Getier do some trade over the Northern seas. Brehtsoln and Zegdaen use the Anlizer mountains as a corridor. Getier and Iezdlai have regular contact, thus why Teigan speaks it and same with the Toltkraets.

The Dolbscheckt only have regular contact with the Iezdlai. I don't think they are much for seafaring. The Dolbscheckt didn't have as much "skin" in the game so to speak and the Byajintorans were not as aggressive at jumping to Kamenlohn's aid when fighting first broke out.

Trying to think what exactly Danrick wrote to the Hillenbohns.

Dear Mrs. Hillenbohn and family,

I am sorry to inform you that one of our number saw fit to make a scene at dinner and announced to the whole school that Sray's father was a Klamon.

We have taken every precaution possible to ensure Sray's safety at this time while everyone processes the revelation. I am sure you can imagine the information was taken better by some than others. Her safety, and that of the rest of your family, are my primary concern.

Myself and a few select others were aware of Sray's heritage beforehand. One being Silfiya DeTowr, formerly Vayeldenbohn, with whom you were once well acquainted.

I will personally do everything in my power to keep Sray safe. I believe her presence here is valuable and I hope you also see the potential good that her time here could do for the relationship between Man and Klamon.

Sincerely yours,

Danrick Mishor

P.S. Kenbin Mounthyuns is most trustworthy. If you wish to respond with any questions or concerns he can carry it in full confidence.

Holahth was the closest majority Klamon town to the school. The population was at least 60% Klamon, probably closer to 75. The city was targeted for at least two reasons, majority Klamon so minimizing Human casualties would be more plausible, and, I suspect, several of those stolen for the experiments were from there, such as Kirrei, and if you could eliminate some of the evidence of what was done in the same stroke why not?

Also of note: the Klamon hybrids whose mothers were Klamon, their children are pretty much indistinguishable from full-blooded Klamon, they can't hide their markings, or perhaps they can, but only succeed at half toning, somewhat lightening the dark areas and somewhat darkening the pale, but that's it. I think those like Kijoth may have been explained away as being weakened by their mothers' ordeals instead of admitting their fathers were Humans.
