Title: Twenty Random Facts about Ohtori Choutarou
Author: Aka [esrafil]
Rating: G
Pairings: None
Disclaimer: Tenipuri is definitely not mine. Alas.

1. Ohtori loves Shishido, but he is not in love with him. They are best friends, and there is no reason to risk that. He knows Shishido well enough to know that the feeling is mutual; they see each other every day, play doubles more often than not - Ohtori knows how to read Shishido as well as Shishido knows how to read Ohtori. If either were to feel inclined toward the other in a romantic sense, this would not go unnoticed.

2. While Ohtori will go to any lengths for his friends, he is not overly friendly with strangers. He is rather selective about who he allows to get close, which is why he is all the more attached to the ones who do.

3. At the age of ten Ohtori's grandmother gave him a cross. On receiving the gift his grandmother told him it was a symbol of faith, of putting one's entire belief into something or someone without question. Ohtori didn't start wearing it until after he helped Shishido train to regain his spot on the regulars.

4. In regards to love - or crushes, even - Ohtori is not one to be won over. If anything, he would be turned off by someone who actively pursued him. He would want someone who had enough pride in himself or herself to not resort to that.

5. However, once someone captured Ohtori's heart, he would fall - and fall hard.

6. One of Ohtori's fondest childhood memories is learning how to play the piano from his father.

7. Ohtori respects Atobe. He does not mind the ego, because from what he has seen it is (mostly) justified.

8. The only convenience of having his birthday on Valentine's Day is that it means the girls at school have one less day to shower him with unwanted attention. He would probably get fewer gifts - usually chocolate - if he did not feel obligated out of politeness to return the favor on White Day.

9. Some people mistake Ohtori's optimism for naiveté. He does not believe the best about everyone, but he is generally willing to give them the benefit of the doubt; there seems no reason to always assume the worst. People, on occasion, try to take advantage of this. They learn quickly that they can't.

10. Ohtori's favorite color is off-white. It reminds him of a blank canvas.

11. By nature Ohtori is an open person. He does not care for deception, and is comfortable enough with himself to not need it in most cases. This makes him a horrible liar, but a skilled evader.

12. Growing up, Ohtori was rarely picked on because he was always tall enough to look intimidating and good-natured enough to stay under the radar of most people. He wouldn't know the first thing about throwing a punch. That's what Shishido is for.

13. Ohtori has an older sister who has recently started to take him to art museums and teach him how to ballroom dance. She says these are things he needs to know to be a proper gentleman; he suspects she is looking for an excuse to spend more time with him because she is leaving to go overseas for college soon. He's going to miss her too, so he doesn't mind as long as Atobe doesn't find out he knows how to tango.

14. Frogs don't scare Ohtori. Bouncy green creatures that come out of nowhere and land on his face do.

15. Rivaling tennis, music is Ohtori's passion. When he plays, he gives more of himself away than he realizes, should the listener know how to interpret the melody correctly. For this reason he rarely gives solo performances.

16. Whenever anyone asks why Ohtori's hair is the color it is, the only answer he has is genetics.

17. Hiyoshi is one of few people who Ohtori finds amusing to provoke. Ohtori's justification is that Hiyoshi needs to lighten up and have fun every once in a while. Aggravation seems to be the quickest way to get a reaction out of him. Ohtori is not sure what response he is looking for from Hiyoshi, so he keeps trying to someday find out.

18. Ohtori can play singles, but he is far better at doubles. He feels pushed to go beyond his best when he has his partner relying on him, and in doing so grows more as a player than he would otherwise.

19. Ohtori can be just as stubborn as Shishido. He's just less obvious about it.

20. Most of Ohtori's friends are older than he is. He doesn't mind as long as no one brings up graduation.
