August & Acquired Tastes

Growing up, I wasn't much of a social butterfly. No one would ever have thought that I would be having parties and get-togethers. I make a big fuss. Everything has to be somewhat perfect. I clean the house before they all come over and I try to make sure that everyone is having a good time. "Sit down Carol" they say to me after it's obvious I'm the only one not working on my buzz yet.
I've come to realize that August parties turn into small get-togethers. Last year I had one and only about 15 people showed, last night was the same thing. I've started to figure out when the best time for a party is. Halloween will be a blast. My birthday always has a nice turnout and then a spring party... but anything in between is for some reason just not a good time for a party. We all have a good time regardless of how many people are in attendance.
I've discovered I've moved past the wine coolers and malt beverages. I got a little carried away at Wal-mart yesterday and bought the new Tangerine Zima ( I used to LOVE Zima) and some Smirnoff Raw Tea. These are malt liquors... wine coolers basically. And like last year when I had bought some of the same I discovered that I wasn't going to experience a nice drunkeness by drinking these. I had to have BEER... REAL BEER. So a beer run happened before the night really started. I started drinking beer probably back last winter. I discovered that it's MUCH MUCH cheaper to buy beer at a bar than a fruity drink. And I guess I've become accustomed to the taste. So what they say about beer being an acquired taste is true... and I've acquired it.
The diet starts today.. BLEH!
