I just got done doing some math homework for my college math class. I still don't understand why I should have to be taking math when I'm studying to be a pastor. Anyways, I would like to share and encourage anyone that is going through a rough time. I never thought I would say this, but God has really taught me something through my college math course. I have been realizing that there are some classes you can sail through with no problem. There are some classes that you don't even have to try to pass, or even try to get a good grade in. You can sleep right through the class and still get an A. While I have been taking this Math course, I'm realizing that I can't approach math this way, if I want to pass. But I have to work out each problem. I have to really put alot of effort into it. I can't just sit down and speed through it, and expect to be good at math.
You know, I think alot of us, including myself, we try to approach life this way. And we try to approach our relationship with God this way. We basically don't want to put any effort into our relationship with God, but we still expect God to bless us, and we expect that we will grow into mature Christians without any effort. Maybe that's why so many of us are weak, pitiful Christians, with no spirituality. We have become lazy and stagnate christians.
I believe alot of us have become worldly, lazy, weak, Christians because of our culture, and simply because we don't want to put any effort into it. Just something to think about.
I believe God wants us to build character, and Christ-like qualities in us, through persevering even when its hard, praying when we don't feel like it, seeking God when the motivation is not there. We need to cast off our laziness, and wake up.
