an overdue update

Mar 25, 2008 09:13

It's been an eternity since I've posted. Figured it was time to finally update. I haven't done very well at keeping up with anyone else's entries either. I'll try to catch up on that soon.

JOB:
In a random conversation with my department's supervisor, I was asked if I happened to know how to use Flash (a design/animation software). I answered that yes I did, in fact that was the program that I won my Technical Achievement Award in, back in college. She suddenly flipped with joy (not literally), and began asking me if I would be interested in doing some Flash work. I told her yes, and she said she'd talk to my boss the following day about it.
I come in the following day and her, my boss and myself have a meeting. My boss asks if I would be willing to do this Flash work during my downtime of the other position that I do here. I told him if we went about it that way, it would only be a temporary fix for them. And I reminded him that I was looking for daytime work, and was currently in the process of job hunting and interviewing. I told him that if they really wanted me to do this, they would need to make it an actual position for me, and let me work the day shift, and let someone else work the nightshift position.
After much brainstorming, exchanging ideas, and rearranging of schedules, I am finally a daytime employee!
What I do is create Flash advertisements for our website. It's a rapidly growing work load, as many clients are beginning to see that the future of advertisement lies in the internet, and no longer in print. I have been on this new schedule and new job for two weeks now, and I'm absolutely loving it. I love the job duties, it's fun and interesting. I only have to get used the hours, I've always been a night owl... not used to getting up so early. My hours are 8:00am to 2:30pm. This gives me time to pick my daughter up from school and have the whole rest of the evening to spend with her.
I do work one night in my old position still, as a compromise to help them out, cause they were having problems filling one night. I work on Thursday nights doing my old job. But hopefully they will eventually find someone else to do that too. As it stands, I am happy with all of it. I got to stay on with the company I've enjoyed working for. And got to keep my great benefits and pay rate, and finally got the hours I was seeking.

LIVING ARRANGEMENTS:
Jake moved out of our mobile home at the beginning of March. I would not have been able to afford the mortgage payments on my own, and me and Rabbit already had plans to move in with Crys. So my brother, Rudy and his family have moved into my place. They need the extra space that my place had to offer, and I needed some way of paying my mortgage. So basically they are renting it from me. It's all worked out smoothly. They're all moved in, and I'm living with Crys now.

RELATIONSHIP:
Wonderful, amazing, happy, joyful, PERFECT!
