Concerning randomness in the universe:

A wise man once said (and I paraphrase), "You know, I used to think it was awful that life was so unfair. Then I thought, wouldn't it be much worse if life were fair and all the terrible things that happen to us come because we actually deserve them. So now I take great comfort in the general hostility and unfairness of the universe."

Concerning #3:

To us mere mortals, perception is reality. We define our "reality" by what we perceive, or what we are capable of perceiving. I perceive the computer screen is in front of me. If it is not, then something is fooling my senses into perceiving a computer screen. Since what I am perceiving, if not a computer screen, appears so similar to a computer screen that it is mimicking everything I would expect, by my definition of what I should perceive a computer screen to do, a computer screen to do, then it is close enough that I might as well call it a computer screen.

We work with what we have to work with. Which is why we constantly refine and redefine what we know as "truth."
