Earnie's BD
Another October 18th,I sit here watching Star Wars episode 4,drinking shots of Gentleman Jack,and thinking about Earnie.How his death has left such a HUGE hole in my life.I can't wait until next week when we go to Kansas to see the kids.We haven't seen them since March,and it is so good to see them and how his kids look and act so much like him(to both mother's chagrin).Daniele is going with us(she hasn't seen them in 2 years).I can't wit to see them.
I love watching episode IV.I can still remember the very first time I saw it(back before it was known as Episode IV).The lights went down,the twentieth century Fox logo cam up.Followed by the ..A long time ago,in a galaxy far,far away...and somewhere in the next two hours I was completely blown away.It completely reset the bar for film making as far as I was concerned.Earnie and I loved it so much that we saw it thirty seven times in it's original release(you have to remember that this was way before DVD or VHS,hell we didn't even have cable tv at that time).Once was sat through every show from 100pm,300pm,500pm,700pm,and 900pm.Thats right,five times in one day(we went to the concession stand between shows for popcorn,hot dogs,and drinks).That definately ranks as one of my best days EVER!!!Ydnar
