I've been packing!
But I'm sure that's not what you guys want. Well, here it is, Alice's request: feline shifters.
And before you say it, there will be MOAR if the kitties cooperate. So keep the threats to a minimum :P Also, un-beta'd so excuse any errors ^^;;
Also, please to note, thanks to Tygs, suspend your disbelief about calicos being either female or sterile. This is my 'verse so I say he isn't. Nyah. :P Also, not that it matters if he's sterile or not right now... ^^;;
Jalon growled and paced back and forth as much as his tiny cage would allow. His tail swished back and forth almost violently in his agitation. He couldn’t believe that he had allowed himself to be caught like this. And by a human. How humiliating for a mighty black panther such as himself. He could already hear the laughter of his brethren, feel the shame the elders would place on him. Dammit.
A soft meow from outside the cage stirred Jalon from his thoughts. There was a cat. A common household cat. The panther snorted, hot breath condensing in the cool night air. A house cat was hardly worth any notice, for they had given themselves over to the humans as pets. Some of them couldn’t even shift. How disgraceful. Jalon eyed the small feline once more before returning to his pacing. It wasn’t worth his notice.
But the furball mewed again, quite insistent this time. Jalon halted in his tracks, glaring at the cat. It sat there and stared at him. Jalon looked around a bit, making sure that no humans were around before he growled a rough “What?”
The cat tilted its head, walked in a small circle, and shifted. “You look like you’re in a bit of a bind.” The growl rumbled in Jalon’s throat. He could hear the smugness in the damn cat’s voice.
“Shut up!” Jalon snarled, the words slightly garbled. He wasn’t going to take anything from a stupid cat. Despite his agitation, Jalon couldn’t help but give the man a once over. Despite his cat form, the guy was rather tall and fairly lanky. His pale skin reflected his calico fur with darker orange and grey spots. The ears were perked, fur tipping the ear and coming to a soft point. He was only wearing a pair of loose black stretch pants, leaving his chest bate. Over all, the house cat wasn’t that bad looking, for a house cat, that is.
“Well that’s too bad. I was thinking I might let you go, but if you want to stay there until the hunters come back, that’s fine, too,” House cat said, crossing his arms over his chest and turning slowly to go. The bitch.
Jalon wanted out, but did he want to be indebted to a mangy cat? It took a second, but freedom was freedom. And his friends didn’t need to know about this entire episode. At all. Jalon shifted, standing up and gripping the bars tightly. “Wait, wait!” The lanky man stopped, and looked at Jalon with a Look. The panther bared his teeth; he did not like that look at all. “You obviously want something. What?” In human voice Jalon’s voice was still rough and that suited him fine. It also seemed to suit his visitor fine because Jalon could see the shiver than ran through the smaller cat’s body. That was interesting.
“Mmm, I don’t know, maybe you can guess, though. Unless you’re all brawn and no brains. But then again, I’ve never minded pretty but dumb before, why start now?” The voice purred, smooth and silky.
Jalon did not appreciate the comment about his intelligence, despite his current position. This has never happened before. And it was an accident. Not his fault. As to the pretty, Jalon was certainly not pretty. He was handsome. Dark, nearly black skin, short, sleek black, hair, and a tiny little pair of black shorts with a long tail sticking out the back. To allow for mobility and comfort of course. And oh yeah, quite a set of muscles without being too muscle-y, if he did say so himself. So ok, maybe Jalon could respect this cat’s request, but a house cat? Really?
Well, the multi-colored skin did look very smooth and soft and the ears… Jalon had always had a thing for ears. As long as his friends never found out. But just to appear suitably tough, he pretended to consider the option for a few moments. “I suppose I could accept those terms.” Jalon tried to sound thoughtful and reluctant, but the lesser cat didn’t look like he was buying it. “Just let me out of here. Now.”
The house cat grinned and walked over to a stake in the ground and cut the rope attached to it with one sharp, and yet small compared to Jalon’s at least, claw. The cage door fell down in front of the panther and Jalon immediately sprang out of the cage, breathing deeply and smelling the free air. Yes.
He walked over to the still grinning house cat, stopping a scant few inches away. The man’s grin only widening, taking on a lusty glint. “Now about your end of the bargain…”
That was it. Jalon didn’t want any more smirking house cat. He grabbed the back of the lanky man’s next and pulled him close for a brutal kiss, claiming dominance over the warm mouth. After a few minutes of heated kisses, the cat pulled back, hair mussed and lips swollen slightly. “Mmm, well, certainly seems like you know how to do more than just stand there and look pretty,” that earned him a low growl from Jalon, but undaunted, he continued. “I’m Flitch, by the way. And you are, my fine hunk of snarly panther?”
“Jalon,”
“Well, Jalon, why don’t we take this to a more private place. I really don’t feel like getting caught by the humans, as I’m sure you could tell me how unpleasant that is.” Flitch backed up, his eyes locked on Jalon’s. Jalon followed him deeper into the forrest. Just to humor the small cat. Not because he wanted to. Not at all.
