Getting to Romania was interesting. Had to go through Heathrow, which I swear is a city unto itself. Made it through there with only a little bit of delay, and what seemed a short time later (but really wasn't that short), I was in Bucharest! It was super nerve-wracking getting off the plane, knowing that Alice was on the other side of the gates. But I got out there, met up with her and promptly started running to catch the bus, which isn't easy with close to 50lbs in luggage. A trip and a walk later, we met up with Irina at her apartment. I'm afraid neither Alice nor I lasted long that night, as we were both exhausted.
Let me break here to say how awesome Alice is (you know you are!). It was a bit awkward on the bus back, as we'd just really met, especially after I found out that I totally did not have the right currency. But we got past that. I'm sure bringing pocky and mochi helped. And I'm sure leaving them at Irina's place didn't help XD (I'll send more, I promise!)
All in all, she took in a poor, tacky, American tourist and took her around Romania, enduring many hours on a bus because her guest was too lazy/cheap to fly into a closer airport. And she did a wonderful job!
I don't know if I said this enough, but THANK YOU, ALICE!!!
More to come when I'm at least half awake.
