With no external prompting whatsoever, I woke up at 9:50am, many many hours before I ought to have. I lay there awhile trying to go back to sleep, but it wasn't happening. Maybe my brain was reminding me that the inauguration was going to happen soon, who knows? Anyway, I got up to watch it, and got in front of the television just in time to hear "So help me God."
President Obama's speech was fantastic, inspiring. And I loved his shout-out to the non-believers when listing the diversity of religions in our country. That never happens! I shat bricks.
He's signing some documents now. I love that his first act as President, apart from giving a speech and seeing the old President off, is to do paperwork.
I'm going to try to go back to sleep now. Wish me luck. On the one hand I'm excited as hell about the events of the day and want to watch the Inauguration coverage. On the other, I should be able to sleep a little more peacefully, now that the country is in better hands.
