This screen cap is taken from last scene from the film The Third Man by Carol Reed. It is by far my favorite scene from the whole film. The woman in the distance walks towards the camera in real time as the leaves from the trees dance slowly to the ground. Its incredibly beautiful and calming.
I liked the film but I didn't love it. The script was clever and is from what I can tell, the cream of the crop in terms of film noir. For those who might not understand the term, film noir is a movement which can be basically described as a film about a murder in the style of german expressionism (odd camera angles with a play on light and dark). Of course that is a blanket statement and not true of all films in this category.
The scene I put up above really captured my attention. I believe it is not due to the story but the director's point of view which sort of tapped into something personal for me. It gave me a sense of deja vu but also a sense of longing. Strange for the subject matter but what can I say? \(-_-;)/ I would like to cut out that scene from the whole film and take it away from its context. It truly stands on its own in my mind.
On another note, I want to give french film another chance but I have no idea where to start. I honestly do enjoy the oddities and pace of certain french films but others leave me with a headache. I suppose I should begin training myself. (^o^)
