Look and Decide

Tell me which ones you like the best.

The sketch

The swoosh of the pen
the flick of the wrist
creating a drawing
and detail that shan’t be missed.
The whorl of the wood,
now exposed.
The cracks of skin,
revealed in the hand.
The signature next
in the corner,
to all who care
that someone put
a picture there.

The Old Man

“All seeing”
“All knowing”
That’s what they said
but what do they know?
They can’t observe the turmoil
that is inside.
While wisdom still flows
It is stale and staid
the newness has faded
and now released
is the normalcy
of life .
The once “supernatural”
now the past.

The Sun and Earth

The petals flick outward
leaning towards the sun.
Their faces brighten
As they become blushed
With the golden gleam.
Rays burst forth
And the earth
Responds with wonder.

Bare

Dust swirls round
adobe bricks,
red barely showing through.
The old wrinkled face
peers out the door
examining what is left of her home
expressed only by eyes
alone.

The Requiem of the Sun

She drifts the seashore,
looking in vain,
for the light
once in her world.
Gone from the sky,
Never again to cheer,
The spirit of the girl found here.
Wandering forever to seek what was lost,
never to find what was sought.

Death

Life comes to a screeching halt
busyness no longer seems important
I stare in horror at the tapestry
in front of me.
My life stands before me
a brightly colored length of cloth
unraveling , slowly.

The Quest

It was the one I sought.
After years of searching
Now I finally behold
the sight of this coveted thing

It is a city.
A shining jewel in the desert
of the surrounding cities gloom.

This place in my consciousness
will never be found here
on this sullied earth
for it is far too fine.

As much as I long to join
the throng there found
I’m held by the bounds
of this finite mind.

Shadow People

The ones you see everyday,
blending in with flow of “The Way”
hiding in a shell,
observing life
from their own private hell.

They hide in the crowd
unremarkable and cowed
Not taking time to dwell
on where they drift
swept along in the swell.

Finished

My body lies
in the dead of the night
this depth of eternity.
Red wine crimson stain
black violin sounds
a world of pain
I have eaten the food of death
and was led
by a man with a knife.
