I genuinely considered the "oh hey we were just coming in from our church looking at trips and look what we found" concept to get Donna and Ten back in, but it just didn't work. Too many odd questions would come up, the idea was that the family for the most part is not to know that this wasn't a kidnapping gone terribly wrong so if Ten arrived back with Matthew... it would get too awkward.
And frankly I rather liked Ten not being able to concede anything to Harriet. It's a display of his anger at her and I think if he had returned and been forced to make nice, it wouldn't have worked. He's only rescuing Matthew on a technicality - he knows its the right thing to do but if Matthew had actually been Harriet's child... his rage would have made him leave Matthew to die. Ten is a stubborn asshole when he gets a bee in his bonnet and he's pissed with Harriet so even though he absolutely knows that the "spoiler" that she was sent back in time has something do with him - he can't let it go. That's not the kind of man he is. The reality is that Harriet kinda broke him when she did what she did - I think she kinda gets that now
Is Twelve cool? I probably get Dr Who on the amazon fire tv....
