Fic - "Going Forward" - BSG/STNG AU - Part 2

Mar 14, 2010 13:34

Here's part two. Again, it helps to read Going Native first since this is a what if AU based on the idea that the colonials ended up in Federation territory and Felix Gaeta was actually a lost starfleet officer who led them to safety all the while pretending he was just... you know, that guy in the CIC.

Yay Commander Gaeta!

Gaeta has the cult now? Now if that isn't a twist of irony...

Well, for certian plot points, he needed a promotion.

Yes, Felix has a cult now. They're very nice, if a bit silly acting. Felix is always politly condescending. Serena is of course shockingly rude :D

How goes the law school hunt? Come to Arizona :D I would take you out for a big meal :D

This is VERY good. SPOILER WARNING; The analysis below assumes an understanding of the Dominion War, anyone reading this story without that should watch Deep Space 9's seasons 5 & 6 NOW ( ... )

In fairness, his career is also a lil dead because he's been gone for eleven years, rumored to have gotten away with a prime directive violation and now wrote two papers spelling out exactly how dumb his superiors are.

There's a reason my call sign for him is "smartypants asshole".

Othewise yer fairly close ;)

How close is the research effort to being able to put jump drives in as a refit change?

Because if it is something that could go in during major repairs - and Starfleet is going to have A LOT of ships in for major repairs soon - than as soon as Commander Felix 'I told you so, you stupid-heads' Gaeta wins a few times EVERYONE will want a jump drive. Sisko will probably demand one for the Defiant ASAP.

Galactica never had a full crew, Klingons like to fight and Vipers would appeal to their glory seeking mentality, so how long after the Bucket's first victory will it be before Klingon Warriors start volunteering to fill in the empty crew slots? Will we see the Klingon's partying with the Colonial fleet, given their similar attitudes? The space bikers weren't part of the war for a while, some are bound to see the legal loophole as an opportunity to visit Stovo'kar.

Will we be seeing the Romulen commander who got his, or at least twenty of his crewmens, heads handed to him show up when they join the war?

Oooo, I'm delighted to see more of the Going Native story, loved that crossover and this period of Star Trek with the Battlestar characters should prove to be very interesting.

And poor Gaeta, even in Starfleet he doesn't get enough respect. Can't wait for the next part!

Well, thanks! :D

And Gaeta, god bless him, just sometimes doesn't know when to not leap into the fire. He's all "it could happen here! we're doomed!" and everyone is all "dude, have some synthhol and calm the fuck down, jeez"

Given Gaeta's sort of luck his new job is about to get very exciting. Also, Smartypants Asshole (I love that for his call sign btw) is about to get proven right in the worst possible way. The first thing that happens when the ostriches' heads get plucked from the sand hard is they get all pissy at the guy who pointed out their heads were in the sand in the first place. It should be interesting to what happens next.

Honestly, he really is a smartypants asshole. Even on the show, he had a snippy snotty thing going on, and in Going Native, he geniunly got kinda "Aha! I am the smart one here and you all are silly!"

Yes, honestly one of the reasons he's ok with returning to New Atlantis is because he's tired of banging his head into the wall.
