AIR GEAR: Clarifying stuffs.

Mar 07, 2009 20:23

Trying to make sense of Air Gear is like... damn near impossible at times. I MEAN. THIS IS A MANGA ABOUT ROLLERBLADES!!!

But anyway, since I was confused about the Sky Regalia revelations recently made, I reviewed some canon and compiled some information so I can keep things clear in my head.

On The Tower and the Gravity Children:

Trophaeum Tower is initially discussed in the Sable Tigers fight:

"The special parts which hold special abilities that show the power of the 'King', of which there is only one in this world."

"And they say that when the eight roads and the eight kings once again come together, the legendary 'sky king' will descend."

The actual origin of the Tower isn't fully explained until chapter 148, where Ine explains it's original purpose:
"This place... was formerly the underground geothermal generator research center, which was built over 30 years ago. Did you know that Mt. Shinonome is an inactive volcano? Although the surface is stable, there are still magma pools around. In the vertical cave, a track formed when a large amount of volcanic magma passed through, allowing water to flow into the shaft. Water changes to its gaseous form as it passes through the magma pools and rises to the surface where it cools, condenses and flows underground again. The turbine harnesses the energy of the rise-and-fall motion. With running costs approaching zero, the 'eternity machine' was created."

Two things of importance here: first, it touches upon energy, which happens to be the main issue that John Omaha seems to be discussing with Kogarasumaru. Secondly... 30 years ago? At least this puts a cap on the ages of the first Gravity Children. (Noting that Ringo and her sisters, as well as Nue and his kids weren't born in the tower, one wonders if there was a second facility that was created AFTER the destruction of the tower, or seeing the success of the first one, was run in conjunction with.

In chapter 193, (Rind and Orca fight), Pyon briefly hints at the the issue:

'Do you know the real purpose for the development of AT's?
- 'I only heard it was a solution to the Lost Energy problem'
Lost Energy as in: the transformation of energy from one form to another usually causes most of the energy to be released as unusable energy (via heat or noise).

AT's : super efficient motors and the 'lost energy retrieval mechanism... that is, the specially gifted users who use the mechanism to the fullest efficiency - The Gravity Children were made'.

(To me this doesn't make sense if the tools that were creating could only be used by a special genetically engineered group of kids. WTF? But at this point, at least the info about the stuff regarding John Omaha.)

'ENERGY REVOLUTION'

'Enormous amount of money and technology is required to produce Gravity Children'
- application to normal people = BRAIN CHARGER (Rind)
- mentions of Uncle Minami at this point.
- SUSPICIONS ABOUT IKKI BEING A SUCCESSFUL, integrated brain-charged human goes here.

On WTF is the Sky Regalia?

Chapter 152: Kiric talks to Ikki about the Sky regalia and reveals the corpse and the suitcase. First impression: CLEARLY THE REGALIA IS IN THE SUITCASE!!! (How wrong were we?)
The Sky King, and the regalia of Regalias. Did you think the Sky Regalia was some kind of invincible weapon used by a TV hero? (Thanks, Kiric, for explaining nothing.)

Chapter 226 and up:

John Omaha explains the Sky Regalia -
SkyLink - It's a world constructed to connect all the riders and their ATs
- Part of the Sky Regalia
ATs contain programming in them: acts as intermediary and connects the ATs into the SkyLink
'all the ATs gather together to form the huge virtual space"
'A way to control all the ATs through the sky link - not just ATs, but a way for you to control the military facilities which unitlize the AT technology throughout the world?'
CHRONOS IMAGE = data network?
- suitcase contains the access code to crack the Quantum code that protects the Chronos information.

My thoughts: Sky Regalia is... not one singular regalia itself but the entity to be able to control all the various AT technologies, and hence the SKY.

QUESTION: What exactly is Sora UP TO? Although, at least from Aeon's POV, this makes a lot more sense than just. obtaining a dinky regalia.

Random info to remember:
- Sleeping Forest: Takeuchi Sora, Spitfire, Black Burn, Falco, Ine, Kiric, Dontores, Rika (8 regalias if we include the Pledge Queens)
- The current Sleeping Forest members according to Kanon have sub-regalias: either mimicked from the original or lacking essential parts. Replica cores? This includes Ringo's regalia, so what happened to Rika's regalia?
- Of the Old regalia: Sora obtained his/Ikkis, Spitfire's were passed to Kazu (but stolen), Nue has Black Burn's, Agito has Falco's, Kururu has Ine's (if that IS the regalia?) Nike has Kirics, Yoshitsune HAD Dontores (but Kogarasumaru has it now) and Ringo has Rika's. Possibly.

Regalia count:
Genesis: 4 (Wind, Gem, Flame, Thunder)
Kogarasumaru: 3.5 (Fang, Rumble, Wind(ish) and Pledge) Wind counts for half?
Sleeping Forest: 1 (Thorn)

Discounts the Om's and Gabishi's regalias (which are not the originals)

Random wtf: If translations are right (and they're probably not) did they just hint at Kazu being half-british? [taken from the scene where Omaha in Emiri's body escapes. Speaks English to Ikki and Ikki calls Kazu as the half-british one? IDK]

ANY thoughts or other ideas are welcome!!
