Last night, I had planned to go to Starbucks in Philam-LP to attempt to finish reading our MarkMan case for the week and get started reading Tablo's Pieces of You (ok, it just seemed appropos to read Blo's Book in a cafe of somesort, but I had to make it legit so, Markman case XD)
But then I came from a group review for our Financial Management midterm (which is this Saturday) and I had one helluva headache. So I slept in the bus and just went home.
By the time I got home my headache was a bit better and, To hell with Markman, I decided to go ahead and read Andante, which is the story in Blo's collection I am most curious about (because of the good words Tobias Wolff supposedly said about it).
Andante weaves the story of complex family relationships. A mother and a son. A son to his father. It is not one linear story but bits and pieces, thrown in together, as our thoughts are wont to be. The emotions are real and true, things that we have all probably felt or thought of at some point in our lives. This is the power of Blo's words.
The story builds up to a crescendo. An Andante.
I think this story is close to Blo's heart than the others (but then I haven't even read the other stories yet).
I am glad to note it is not so overrated after all. Look forward to reading the rest.
