This and that

So apparently this entry has been sitting in my drafts since July...time to post this sucker.

7/24/17: Chad's off to NY to catch a murderer. I'm here with 5 kids, 2 ducks, and a dog, trying not to become a murderer. This evening's therapy session featured me eating 2/3rds of a bag of BBQ potato chips and watching the Great British Baking Show. So far so good.

11/29/17: You know you live in a detective’s household when your six-year-old names the dog’s chew toy monkey “45-year-old White Male.”

12/4/17: Ruth, singing: “Holy, holy, holy, Lord Garmadon...” A little hymn/Lego Ninjago crossover.

12/5/17: Cora came upstairs today laughing like crazy. “Mom! Remember when I used to be in your belly?”

“Yes, I sure do, Cora. Very clearly.”

*still laughing* “And Gwen?”

“Yes, and Gwen.”

“And Ruth?“

“Yep. You and she were in there at the same time, actually.”

*still laughing* “You ated us when we were one!”

“No, you were zero, and I didn’t eat you, you grew in there.”

“And now we’re four! Do you like being fifty-five?”

“I’m thirty-five, and yes, I like it.”

“OK!” *runs off*

1/31/18: I’m reading “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer” to Brahm and boy I forgot what a wild ride that story is. It’s like “haha innocent mischievous childhood shenanigans oh that Tom what a scallywag BOOM SOMEONE’S GETTING STABBED IN THE GRAVEYARD THERE’S BLOOD EVERYWHERE” and we’re not even at the bit in the caves yet. I’ve never fully recovered from the caves. Time to traumatize my own children with classic literature!
