A Rare Film Recommendation

Jan 20, 2007 00:04

The Wife and I got the Boy to bed early enough to enjoy an evening of Scrabble (I won, 391-197, largely due to drawing "Q" and "Z" in my initial seven letters, allowing me to strategize my way into a 63-point word ... ) and a movie. While such a Scrabble slaughter sounds so sweet, the movie, in fact, proved the hit of the evening. We watched The Girl in the Café, an HBO film from 2005. This film, which initially seemed funny in a boring kind of way, ended up making me remember to ask myself, "We've entered the 21st century, and what have we done with it?" It also reminded me of my fondness for Scottish gingers. And it did all that in 96 minutes. Kick ass.
