Holy shit, this week.

Long story short, my segment producers for Redefining Appalachia have been making my life very inconvenient. The one guy had nothing to turn in Monday, putting my episode behind. But at least he was keeping me updated about why that happened, and accepted his grade being lowered without complaint.

The other one, however, is a shithead playwrighting major. Why he is in a TV production class I have no idea. He starts bitching that I don't want him to write and produce his own fiction piece for the episode. Doesn't matter that it's a non-fiction magazine format show, he gets all indignant about there being no point for him to be working on the show if he can't write (I agree!).

However, after thinking about it for a day, I figured it wouldn't hurt to give him the go ahead. It might round out the episode, never know. So I log onto my email to let him know he can do it, only to find he has already emailed me, to say that he is going to do a fiction piece regardless.

We'll now, I'm pissed. Now he's disregarding my authority. Not only that, but he also says that he wouldn't have it done bu the deadline (next friday) and wants an extension. He said it was because his Mom was coming down to visit, and that it might rain. I laugh. If he hadn't been a prick about going over my head, I might have given it to him. But nope. I respond saying that if he doesn't have it done on the deadline, he's losing a letter grade. Just like the other guy. Bitch.

And then he gives me a copy of the script he wrote. And it's a piece of shit. Seriously, your a playwrighting major? Methinks you should reconsider. But then, I should know better than to expect too much from playwrights.

And here we are. Time for the weekend. Thank God.

At least I'm getting ample experience with working with incompetence. Just like in the real world.
