Psst, if in doubt you can always leave behind things like toiletries and just buy them over here as they are pretty cheap.
And I know the Grammar school hatred feeling - our school used to go up against Guildford Grammar school at our Eisteddfod. We hated them =_= They nearly always won! We were lucky to come, like, 5th XDDD
And hey, you'll be just fine! International text messages are really cheap on the SIM card I'm sending you (20p per text) - I'll also get you a topup card and put that in the post with the SIM so you can top it up at the supermarket and ATMS and the like. Just for the love of anything NEVER reverse-charge call from ANYWHERE - use email or phone cards no matter how much your parents tell you they wanna hear from you in person (they'll thank you later when they don't have an £85 phone bill XD) The Lonely Planet website advertise this thing called ekit which is a cheap international phone card - I've never used it so I don't know if it's any good but it might be handy given the number of places you're visiting outside of the UK :)
