This has been one of the most traumatic and strange weeks of my life, involving two events in particular.
So I'm working at Captain Video... using a paper-cutter. I step to plant my foot as I'm making a cut, slip on something and... cutting blade drops on my finger, severing a half inch section of skin and nail from the side of my left index. Shock sets in shortly thereafter, and before I know it I'm holding a chink of my finger in place with a bloody paper towel standing outside the store talking to police with sirens in the distance. I was taken via ambulance to Westchester County Medical Center with the diagnosis of "fingertip avulsion." Unable to reattach the chunk that I sliced out, doctors sutured the wound so it would stop bleeding but it was left open in order to heal. So now, my left index is a bandaged, open wound which needs to be cleaned and changed periodically by hand surgeons, who believe it will heal to a managable shape on its own - in 6 weeks. For now, I'm on vicodin, laid up, on disability and contemplating the rest of my life with a deformaty of the hand. Awesome.
As for the second event... I just found out about it tonight and have no details other than those produced by my own snooping about yet... and to protect those involved from potentially finding out I know before I want them to, I'll not say anything other than I will find out more. I hope its not as it seems right now.
Rebecca is doing a great job keeping me in good spirits and well taken care of through this. She's a wonderful girl, I love her to death and would be adrift in sorrow tonight were it not for her love and encouragement.
So yeah. I'm done now, one handed typing is way too slow. Adios
