Forty licks

Forty licks?
yeah, the rolling stones tour!
I've been there and it was really cool
my sister won two tickets to the rolling stones in the Amsterdam Arena and she decided to take me there, so we went yesterday evening.
And sure they're getting a bit old (what are they? 60 or so?) and sure me and especially my sis (who is 10 years younger than me) are not of the prime rolling stones generation, but they're bloody legends !
and when you see numbers as paint it black, sympathy for the devil and satisfaction (among many many others) being played live before you, who cares what generation you belong to :)
Aside from all that, this was the first real concert I've ever been to, so it made a good impression upon me. The thousands of voices roaring in unison around you on the beat of the music, almost a primeval power. It felt like standing in the sea, with waves crashing all around you.
We had pretty good seats too, first of all we could sit, which is a good thing for inexperienced concert-goers like us. And from our seats we just had to look straightforward and we could see the podium. They also used big screens, so the distance between us and the podium really didn't matter one bit. And best of all, no heads in the way. :)
After the concert was over, at about 12.00, we all had to run for our train, which was as crappily organized as can be expected from the NS.
The closest train station was closed with gates (it was past 12 after all) and the only busses that were available went to Schiphol. So by far the majority of these thousands of people started walking over small sandy roads to the nearest train station about 15-20 minutes away, where there were still trains coming by.
After running past many many people we barely made it into the train, and got one of the latest trains out of Amsterdam. I wonder how all the people after us got home, though.
Still, in conclusion, it was one heck of an experience, and I really really enjoyed myself. And from the looks of her, so did my sister.
One more unforgettable experience for the book, it really earned its place.
