Okay, here I am updating again about Sonnet's training process. She has had no accidents (yay!) in the past two days in the house, and, with any luck, the trend will continue(knock on wood!). Either she's catching on to the idea that the back door means "out" and is thus standing next to it when she needs to go out, or we're recognizing her tells quicker before she decides that she has no other option other than going on the floor. She's also starting to realize what "no!" means and she is (slowly) getting better with the "leave it" command. Oh! And she doesn't try to bite my hand off when I give her treats, so the "gentle" command is also working. Thank goodness for clicker training.
We took her to the vet the other day to get her second and last immunization for lyme disease. Geez, puppy immunizations are expensive! Anywho, she gained two pounds and it looks like her spine isn't sticking out as much as it used to.
I am a little concerned that she feels the need to go out and pee every two hours. We're working on getting her to spend the entire day in the crate, but we're only up to about five hours. The vet says that, at 9 months, she is physically capable of holding it for eight hours, but I don't think she understands it. The crate is helping, that's for sure, but we still have some work to do on that front. I'm sure more accidents are in our future as well.

I've also decided that while she's pretty smart in her own way, she's not nearly as smart as Limerick. Limerick always has that look in his eyes like, "Try all you want, I'll still find away around what you want me to do unless you really convince me that I want to do it." Sonnet is much more ... well, dopey, kind of. Not golden retriever dopey, but dopey nonetheless. She falls A LOT on the hardwood, resulting in both hilarious and painful-looking flips and spins, but she always gets up and looks at you with a big smile and a look that says, "WOAH! That was fun!! Kinda hurt, though. How do I do it again?!"

And, yes, it's been a very slow period at work lately. How could you tell?
