Okay, yeah, so I know it has been a while since I last posted, but I've been perusing a bunch of different things. I'm in a slight conundrum, and I figured I would come to my lj to get input.
I have the opportunity to lease a horse for the month of August. Now, I will still be working in my classroom all month, but only 3-4 hours a day rather than the usual 10-12 I do during the school year, so time is not the issue, other than when I'm going out of town.
What is the issue is the money. I can afford it if I don't do the following: take lessons that month, put money into my grad school savings, go out, and spend a lot on groceries. So, I'll sorta be eating bologna and peanut butter sandwiches the entire month, and not going out as much (or at all) with my friends to eat, drink, or see movies. Also, I would have to dip into my savings the next month to pay off my car insurance. All of these reasons accrue to ... ickyness.
On the other hand, ever since I was a little girl, I've wanted my own horse, if only for a little while. It's hard to explain to those who don't love the animals, but to have a horse recognize you, walk up to you, and nuzzle you is incredible because, unlike smaller (and sometimes less intelligent) animals, they could just as easily trample you with their four hooves and 1500 lbs. I am also at a point in my riding where I could *really* benefit from riding everyday. I know the horse I would lease, and not only is he a cutey, but he is also sweet as pie. He has this long forelock that sorta makes him look like a muppet, and he looooves carrots. All of these reasons add up to .... YAY!ness.
Part of me says that I only live once, but another part says that I'm young and have PLENTY of time. Ideas?
