New Medication

So yesterday I went to see a specialist to determine what might be wrong with me. After waiting for a few hours, the doctor finally came in to meet me. I was at the Health Sciences Centre.. surprise surprise for the wait!

So after talking with him for a few minutes he thinks I might have something called GERD. What I don't understand is that I don't have heartburn or any of the symptoms. So they said to take the medication for a month and see if it helps me and if it does then I have a prescription to fill until I go and see him in 4 months.

That night I called my mom and dad and my dad proceeded to tell me, which I don't know why he FINALLY decided to tell me this, but my dad's side of the family mostly died of pernicious anemia. *ding ding ding* I have been border line anemic for a long ass time. Upon further investigating online I've discovered a lot of my symptoms relate to anemia.. so now I don't know what to do. The nurse gave me her phone number to call her and leave her a message at any time if I had questions. So do I call and say my dad let me know that my family has a history of pernicious anemia and I think the doctor should know? What do you guys think? I just want to get down to the bottom of this whole thing. I want to feel healthy again and not so freakin' exhausted all the time.
