The boy's name Leron \l(e)-ron\ is pronounced le-RON. It is of French origin, and the meaning of Leron is "the circle". Also an Israeli name meaning "my song".
I finally installed a screen capture plug-in, so I will now begin a series of game reviews that will be posted whenever I finish a game and get around to writing it. Most of the game reviews posted will be of otome games on the PSP. I would like to write about games on the PC, but my PC is out of commission, so all you'll get for now are PSP games. And seeing as that I still have three weeks of entries to write, I'm just going to do it now.
緋色の欠片 ポータブル [Hiiro no Kakera Portable]
(To practice my Japanese, I'll be translating the game summary and character bios from the
game site. It's not an exact translation and will have some additional flourishes to make it more understandable.)
The protagonist, Kasuga Tamaki, whose parents are transferring overseas, returns to her mother's childhood home to live with her grandmother. Her grandmother's home is in a small village nestled in a valley. Tamaki has a dim, but happy memory of her grandmother's home in her childhood. However, when she arrives at the village, she encounters an odd creature that only she can see -- a spirit. From there, her grandmother reveals to her a secret.
-- Duty of the Tamayorihime --
It has been several decades since the ceremony to seal the sword called "Onikirimaru (Demon Cutting Sword)" has been held, and the sword must be sealed again soon.
As the seal of Onikirimaru weakens, a group of strange and monstrous people gather in this village, whose aim is to obtain the sword. And there are also the young men who appear to protect Tamaki as her guardians.
This is the story of Tamaki, who has taken on the fate of the Tamayorihime...

In the world of otome games, Hiiro no Kakera is pretty well-known and pretty well-loved. The story is well-written, and the art is spectacularly beautiful. Of course, one of the issues with visual novels
In the world of otome games, Hiiro no Kakera is pretty well-known and pretty well-loved. The story is about a girl, Kasuga Tamaki, who goes to live with her grandmother and finds out that her family is charged with the duty to seal away Onikirimaru, a demon sword that has the power to destroy the world. It's now her turn to renew the seal, but she is opposed by a strange group whose aim is to obtain the sword. She is aided by a group of young men, whose obligation is to protect her as she goes about to seal Onikirimaru.
With visual novels, one of the issues I have is that once you get through a single route, you've pretty much seen the entire story. The exception is PC visual novels that allows for a number of different story lines for each character. However, in Hiiro no Kakera, each character has a slightly different story line, giving much needed variety and lessening the chance of the player pressing the skip button.
The art is absolutely beautiful, drawn by Kazuki Yone, who is famous also for her art in Hakuouki. The only qualm I have with the art is that I didn't find enough pretty CGs in one of the routes.
I am very fond of this game, because the PSP version not only has the game, it also includes the fandisk Hiiro no Kakera -Ano Sora no Shita de- and new version exclusive scenarios for each guy.
(This is the first time I've written a game review, so if you have any suggestions or format you'll like me to take on, I'll welcome the recommendation!)
