[Private to Owen]
I have maintained a log of my own experiences with this "death toll", and attach it here for your information. I sincerely hope that the next time there is a death, I will not be incapacitated myself; a valuable opportunity for research was lost.

Thanks, I'll look at it when I get a moment. I managed to get more data in between running around like a bloody headless chicken. When you're feeling up to it, we can go over it.

I am "up to it", as you put it, at your convenience. I have largely recovered from the events of last week.

[Owen was rather glad to be out of the Infirmary after the past week. He wasn't a big fan of people in general but he didn't like seeing them in pain. Hence, the going to medical school thing and the idea that he could eliminate this death toll all together.

He'd claimed one of the tables in the library, with his computer set up and some papers spread around. He'd managed to find some coffee too, thought it wasn't nearly as good as the stuff that Ianto could make. That was the only time that he'd admit to missing that smug Welsh ass.]

[The Rani arrived with a collection of her own notes under her arm. Spotting Owen, she crossed the room to meet him and acknowledged him with a small nod.]

Dr Harper.

"Rani." [Owen nodded back at her, and gestured for her to take a seat.] "Would you like some coffee?"

[She shook her head and sat down. Her movements were all very precise, no energy wasted.]

Where do you wish to begin.

[No small talk for this one.]

[Well, Owen wasn't about to complain about the lack of chit chat.]

"I took these samples off of three of the affected people last week."

[Assume the paper he hands her has elevated white blood cell levels and things of that nature. Whatever would pique her interest or I dunno. /not a science person really]

[She scanned the test results thoughtfully.]

"Elevated white blood cell count suggests an immune response," she observed. "High levels of blood urea nitrogen-indicative of muscular exertion, only to be expected, perhaps, as the body reconstitutes itself. Likewise the alkaline phosphatase readings." She mused over the results in silence for a moment, then said, "Does treatment for the death toll already include elevated nutrient levels administered intravenously?"
