Hey, I actually did just watch this one about two weeks ago on YouTube. And it's one of the episodes I remember fairly clearly from the original airing back in 1801.

Goldar must have fallen asleep at the wheel when Zack showed up to get Jason. And why the hell did they need Jason, anyway? I realize that Billy used to get useless in battle situations without a leader and Kim was under The Tommy Effect at this particular time. That leaves Zack and Trini to duke it out for temporary leadership until Jason gets the job done.

The Tommy Effect must have overcome my sense of logic, because I always figured the time differential between the Candle of TommyPower Fail and Tommy actually demorphing had something to do with Tommy's inner strength, or some bullcrap reason like that. It's more fun to make fun of the show, though.

As for the Dragonzord, I have no explanation for that. I've always secretly thought DZ remained evil and was just waiting for the opportunity to go back to its Empress. I was bummed it never panned out.

I love how the Green Ranger's Shield of Cheap Bling doesn't show up again until the show cops out and Tommy gets his powers back (albeit temporarily). I always knew Jason was more awesome (and not just because he was also way hotter) than Tommy. He didn't need the cheap bling.

How long is it until we get some genuine character development for Bulk and Skull?

This really was a waste of an episode, plot-wise. Failure supposedly wasn't an option, but then nothing happened when they did fail.

I clearly remember laughing at Tommy/Kim when I was a kid and I did the same thing ninety-six years later.

BWHAHASLDJALSDJFALDSJkfad okay this whole comment had me literally laughing. If I wasn't in a recliner, I might have actually fallen out of my chair. *wipes away a tear*

I also remember it fro the original airing back in 1801. Good times, good times. I didn't buy it even then, as a wee lass of... um... old enough I oughtn't have been watching of my own accord (or twelve, take your pick).

Ah but this is Power Rangers! One cannot use logic when viewing Power Rangers. It tends to detract from the enjoyment. ;)

Jason's arms are so pretty they rule all! No need for Shields of Cheap Bling when you have shoulders like that. MmmmJasonsarms... sorry, got a bit distracted there.

Season two is when the real development begins with them. So... we have... roughly 25 more episodes to go before we hit season two. Give it about 12 weeks. We should hit season two sometime in late November/early December, barring any necessary breaks or recap marathons in which we might partake.

Failure supposedly wasn't an option, but then nothing happened when they did fail.

I know, right? Good moral there, guys...

Yeah... they still bother me. Kim could have been so so awesome. But then, I seem to have a thing against canon PR couples? Not like there are that many in the first place, but this show handles romance really really badly... unless it's the unintentional romance. That they do FANTASTICALLY well.

I really want the wacky adventures of the 19th century Rangers now. You have no idea how badly.

I would totally buy the Tommy's inner strength thing, except the show always makes such a big deal of it when he does something awesome! But maybe they just haven't figured that out yet.

I think the first real Bulk and Skull character development we get is in season 2. They save the Rangers lives in When is a Ranger Not a Ranger, which happens right after the Stone Canyon trio show up.
