Dinner at teh neighbors

holyoutlaw and juliebata invited Denys and me over for dinner, so we walked to the center of the universe yesterday evening, critiquing the neighborhood along the way. (The traffic calming devices on 36th have not calmed the traffic. The old Fremont News space has been taken over by Sonic Boom's vinyl section. The old Empty Space Theater space is still empty.) I miss the Empty Space theatre. And still miss some of the old junk shops that were replaced by upscale clothing stores. I'm glad that a local store has moved into the Fremont News space, even though I really really miss Fremont News.

We also have a lot more restaurants to choose from, plus a great video store, a used bookstore, a used record/cd store, and an office building with a propeller beanie on it. It ain't all bad at all.

And of course Brouwers. Brouwers is pretty cool, even if I *still* miss the Trolleyman.

Yes, but now the Trolleyman is a fricking chocolate factory, which is pretty cool in itself!

According to their web page, tours are $5. It doesn't mention whether you get free samples. Luke and Julie have tried a couple of their chocolate bars, and they seemed to approve.

Free samples after the tour, yes. And sometimes near the cash register.
