Who am I? Where am I?
Received recently one of those Get To Know Your Friends Better email. Figured I'd put mine up here as well...
Hi everyone,
Welcome to the 2006 edition of getting to know your friends.
What you are supposed to do, is copy (not forward) this entire e-mail and Paste it into a new e-mail that you'll send. Change all the answers so they apply to you, and then send this to a whole bunch of people including the person who sent it to you.
The theory is that you will learn a lot of little things about your friends, even if you thought you knew them already.
1. What time did you get up this morning? Round about 9:30ish.
2. Diamonds or Pearls? Diamonds. Don’t own pearls, and being gay, naturally allergic to cubic zirconium.
3. What was the last film you saw at the cinema? Either Brokeback Mountain or Munich - don’t recall which order we saw them. Brokeback much more memorable, though. Many will say it’s because of the exceptional film quality, breathtaking scenery and great acting. I say, really now. Three words. Heath. Jake. Lassoes. Pure classic.
4. What is your favorite TV show? For all my dear and close friends that often comment on such programming with great disdain, I now come out as a diehard Survivor fan. When I am at my Thursday night meeting the VCR is taping…That and Amazing Race. And then most any “TV Land” late night stuff. Gotta love Fred Sanford.
5. What did you have for breakfast? Coffee and a couple jelly sticks. Later, more coffee.
6. What is your middle name? Todd
7. What is your favorite cuisine? Fattening.
8. What foods do you dislike? Can’t stand the thought of feta cheese. Not that its really bad, just that all I think of is opening the buckets at a restaurant I used to work at and choking on the scent of the brine it doesn’t quite float in.
9. What is your favorite type of music? Multiple choice. You can figure on anything other than rap / hip-hop and opera. Always wished the fat lady would sing in the first scene so it would be over that much sooner. Pretty much like any rock other than Zeppelin. Classical, country, Big Band, music from other cultures. Favorite vocalist ever is Anne Murray.
10. What kind of car do you drive? Ford Focus
11. What is your favorite alcoholic beverage? I don’t presently drink, but when I did it was whatever was there.
12. What characteristics do you despise? The fake politeness / interest of salespeople, especially cell phone clerks at mall kiosks when I’m just walking by. Being asked by clients on a service job how to maintain something, and then going on another call later to see that the advice they were given was completely ignored. I’ll hold off there, because if I really start bitching, the list can take up the entire internet.
13. Favorite item of clothing? Can’t think of any one particular. The two items I am most likely to have on at any given time are my commitment ring (always) and my Serenity Prayer bracelet.
14. If you could go anywhere in the world on vacation, where would you go? Any place Bush hasn’t tried to spread “peace”. Too much risk.
15. What color is your bathroom? Pink. And it’s gonna stay that way!
17. Where would you retire to? Socorro. Really. ASAP.
18. Favorite time of day? First time I see Husband.
19. Where were you born? Waterbury. Hospital. Looks like the yard hasn’t been maintained since.
20. Favorite sport to watch? People watch sports?
21. What book are you reading right now? AA Big Book. Again.
22. What is the one thing you could not travel without? How did we survive without cell phones?
23. If you die tomorrow, what will you most regret? That I didn’t get to hug just one more person.
24. Coke or Pepsi? Coke. And not just because I interviewed for a job there last week.
25. Are you a morning person or night owl? Night owl by nature, but the end of the night seems to get earlier the older I get.
26. How many kids do you want? None. My initials aren’t M.J. (Did I misread that question?)
27. What is your favorite color? Rainbow. Is that a color?
28. What is currently your favorite song? My all-time favorite song has always been “How Great Thou Art.”
29. What did you want to be when you were little? Had visions of fame in music, sometimes still do even though my voice is hardly consistent due to sinus issues. Can easily carry several octaves, just can’t guarantee that they will be the same 5 minutes later. That and a lack of self confidence in performing in front of people.
30. Favorite Candy Bar? Whichever one is Buy one Get one free.
31. What is your best childhood memory? Sitting in my maternal Grandfather’s garage with him, watching a thunderstorm.
32. What are the different jobs you have had in your life? All of them? Dear Lord!
Paper carrier, convenience store clerk, Hickory Farms clerk, Burger King (have worked at 2), electrical components assembly, McDonald’s (also 2), Swiss Screw and secondary machine operations, grocery store clerk, Wire drawing mill worker, pizza restaurant, Materials / parts handler / maintenance person, telephone equipment bench technician, installation / testing / troubleshooting / training for controls of automated conveyor systems in Postal Distribution centers, Mail insertion machine repair / PM, copier and fax technician, laundry equipment, some freelance work in POS component replacement. I may have missed one or two or seventy-eight from during my drinking years…
33. What is the one thing you wish you were doing right now? Answering questions on a “Get to know your friends” email. Oh, um, never mind…
34. Nicknames: Most people call me Randy. Could be a number of reasons for it. Husband calls me Honey, which has become odd because that is also the name our cat had when we adopted him. Honey calls me “Meow,” but then again he calls everything that. Personally, I’m partial to “Bitch” - it suits my every mood.
35. Eye color: Blue
36. Ever been to Africa? Do Busch Gardens - Tampa or EPCOT count? Probably not, so no.
37. Favorite day of the week? All the same right now.
38. Favorite flower? Daffodil.
39. Favorite ice cream? Baskin Robbins Cherries Jubilee.
40. Favorite day of the year? September 2 followed extreme close second by September 15.
41. Favorite fast food restaurant? Duchess, which isn’t always fast, but at least is food.

43. How many times did you fail your driver's test? None - although I just got by with my vision (no depth perception).
44. Which store would you choose to max out your credit card? At this point in my life, I wouldn’t dare!
45. What do you do most often when you are bored? Internet, latch hook, crochet.
46. What time do you usually go to bed for the evening? Between 10:00 and midnight usually.
47. Last person you went out to dinner with? Husband.
48. Ford or Chevy? I must someday have another Ranger… (and maybe a truck…)
49. What are you listening to right now? Can you say, “Meow”?
50. Where do you see yourself in 5 years? I like to remain blissfully clueless…
