Jobs, employment and the like

So I finally decided it was time to get a job--about six months ago. But hey, I didn't want just any job, I wanted something in law (since I am planning on that as a career and all). So i sallied forth (yes, sallied) in the world, submitting resumes, writing cover letters, getting all dressed up in my suit, going to interviews...nothing. Nothing nothing nothing. It got so bad I finally decided I would just take anything. About that time I applied for a job with StateFarm insurance, in their legal office. Got an interview. Got to take this really great test with questions like "If I get this job, I anticipate being late on average of twice a week" Let me tell you, I was quite challenged. End result: I got the job.

So I get there (started last week), all bright eyed and bushy tailed and discover that even tho the job I thought I was applying for was a legal internship thing, the job I actually got was...Part Time Mail and File Processor. That is my actual title. Can you guess what I do all day? But thats not even the best part. My first day, they asked me if I knew the alphabet. Hello? Law student, college degree...hell, GRADE SCHOOL 'degree.' Do I know the alphabet? After assuring the woman training me that I did know the alphabet--suprisingly enough she didnt make me sing it--she introduced me to her files. And I do mean her files. She has more ownership of those damn files than I have ever seen anyone have. Its insane. She checked to be sure I got everything in the right letter, then made sure I transferred the stuff from the sorter to the letter files correctly. Several times a day.

The second day, I learned to do mail. The woman who was showing me this (same woman as above) informed me that this part was HER job, and there was no way I would ever get to do the mail. Even when she is out, there is another person who does the mail, and it would NOT be me. Ok, fine, no problem.

It's gone downhill from there.
