A man overboard! What matters it? The vessel does not halt.
I think I'm a hundred shades of disgusted and pissed right now.
So during high school (2005) I worked at Carmike Cinemas (an all-American company) for a job. The hours were insane and I ended up quitting due to health reasons (pretty much I landed in a hospital). But since there's not much else work in our town (which is why I commute so much), my little brother ended up working there and is currently a staff leader there (aka, not a manager but he has a little power).
Well apparently he found out yesterday that a co-worker of both of ours (she was there when I was too) died due to health reasons. Which sucks, but here is the kicker:
1) Apparently she died a month ago. Neither the management nor the corporation had looked into why an employee of several years with known health reasons stopped showing up for work. Someone who knew her had to come in and tell people a month later.
2) My brother being the nice boy he is suggested they get flowers to remember her by. Nothing giant, just some flowers. The company's answer to that? "That is an unnecessary expense".
....
And they say it's terrorists and foreign companies that are hurting our country.
