I spent all of the time from about 5:15-7:45 in immense pain, today. I was playing soccer when my right shoulder suddenly popped out of it's socket. For those of you who haven't had the privilege of this experience, it feels really awkward and hurts a lot. This had happened to me before so I wildly flailed my arm around while saying ow a lot, which has worked in the past. It didn't work so I was driven to the emergency while enduring excruciating pain (each jolt and turn hurt a whole lot) and then had the privilege of sitting there for 2 hours enduring this pain that gradually got worse. Finally the stupid medical people decided that they should do an X-ray to make sure it was dislocated (There was an abnormal bone popping out and a nice hollow spot where it should have been so I think it was rather obvious). This naturally required me to move my arm to maximize the pain, so by the time that was done it was rather unbearable. So I sat around in the hospital room and eventually they came and gave me a few nice doses of some pain killer and after about 15 minutes that had come into effect and the humerous was popped back in very quickly ... why couldn't they have done that 2 hours earlier and saved me a lot of pain? Anyway I now have to take drugs for a while and wear a sling for a few days, and basically be nice to the shoulder. Ugh. Word for the wise ... don't do this ... it's not fun.
