Christmas!

Christmas 2010.

Admittedly, it took a while for me to feel the Christmas spirit. For a lot of friends, they still say that they don't feel like it's Christmas even if all the signs are everywhere.

Christmas shopping is tough! For the first time, I felt really compelled to complete a shopping list. Even if I did start giving gifts last year, I wasn't as generous yet... given that I had just started working. But this year, I thought that it might be time to be a bit more generous.

Sadly, I didn't take the precaution of completing shopping early enough (plus the fact that I constantly procrastinated). This lack of taking the necessary precaution meant that I 'd have to experience 1-2 hours of horrible traffic and the lack of parking spots in malls.

Next year, I'll definitely shop for gifts during the summer time so I have at least half of my gift list covered. @_@;

Speaking of Christmas gifts, I realized that it's so difficult to decide on what toy to give for kids in their adolescent years. For toddlers, it's fairly easy to find something interesting and safe enough for them to play with... but kids well on their way to becoming teenagers can be so demanding.

It's difficult to decide what gift they'd deem to be "cool" enough, so that at least you make a bit of an impression on their memory. (ie." Oh! This one's from Aunt Ria! She gave me a PSP last year... she's so cool!" as opposed to "Oh, this gift is from Aunt Ria... oh wow, a new shirt.")

Budgeting is a reality one cannot escape. Until I get my best-selling novel published, I guess that PS3 will not even be on my "gift to self" list.

Regardless, it's pretty interesting how toys have become so high-tech. Last week, while in the toy store, I couldn't help but stare at all those toys I remember as a kid, and notice how they've tried their best to keep up with the times. Of all these toys though, the one that caught my attention the most was the latest Tamagotchi model-- the Tamagotchi Plus Color:

At 3000.00 Pesos each, I thought it was too expensive a gift even for myself. But I have to admit, it's so high-tech that it leaves you virtually inseparable from your pet; you can load it to your phone and PC (if I understood the description in Japanese correctly).

On another note, there was another toy which particularly caught my attention simply because it scared the heck out of me. I warn you now, it is not for the faint of heart:

Merry Christmas, everyone! :)
