History in 90 minutes

To discuss the facts of history...

To discuss the world wars like a chess game that had long ended.

What took place, who were the main movers and shakers...

The over-all effect. The chain of events. The people involved. The people who died; individuals reduced to numbers.

All in ninety minutes.

There is so much more to unravel, so much more to learn from this dark period in our collective history.

I feel so limited. So ignorant. So restrained from being able to talk about everything within my capacity.

But will I be able to do justice to this... will I be able to lead others to think?

To begin that spark, that interest to find out... to move someone who is more concerned about the future to actually care about something which has long transpired in the past.

And in the midst of all this, I pause and realize how...

I feel so...human.

So much to learn, so much to know.

We are our history, that much I know. At the very least, the little consolation I have is the thought that I do care about this history.
In which case, as far as this individual is concerned... that past has not been forgotten.

random, rants, school
