At some point in life, you just have to accept that despite the great times you've shared with others, when you decide to take the other path at that fork in the road, you might not see them again. Or at least, if you see them again, they're not the same anymore. Too much time lost, too few memories to have cherished. And even if you try to make up for the lost time, it's just not working... it's not your fault that you've changed too.
And you begin to wonder if you should be sad at the realization, or whether it's something to be happy about-- to grow up and accept that you've changed somehow.
Definitely, after all those emotions going through your system, you have to move on and make that decision to keep going or to stay behind.
Who knows where the path you chose leads you? The worst that could happen is that you decide to stop walking, and no longer leave room for improvement and let opportunities pass you by.
It's a question of choosing what to sacrifice. And if those friends never really decided to stick around anyway, be it your fault or theirs for forgetting, the point is they've made their decision as well.
So why should you suffer for something they've simply thrown over their shoulder?
