The Sound of Heartbreak
A rain drop
falling,
crashing
against the pavement.
Silent-- almost--
until the downpour
Glass breaks:
tiny shards
sharp-edged and glittery,
reflect eyes gazing
into the mercurial dust
A voice calls in the distance
and fades,
fades slowly
until nothing else is heard
A hushed cry
for help, of wanting
a stifled sob breaks into
a rush of words that become noise
without meaning or understanding.
The sound of a heartbreak
is uncertainty
in seeing opened doors in the distance
and the wide fields that await ahead
but staying, still--
uncertain about the necessary freedom.
A shot at poetry writing, after a long time of inactivity as far as creative writing is concerned. I would really appreciate criticism and feedback. :)
