I love when the news makes it so easy for me to find something worthwhile to post. ;)

Candy Dynamics of Indianapolis expanded its recall to include all Toxic Waste brand Nuclear Sludge products after testing showed some of it had lead in levels higher than allowed by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

The FDA said so far no one has reported getting sick from eating the super sour candy, which is now no longer sold in the U.S.

Candy Dynamics said it tested some of its smaller-sized candy and found some of it had lead levels between 0.101 parts per million to 0.311 parts per million -- the FDA allows for 0.1 parts per million. Lead can be toxic to small children and cause brain damage. Lead poisoning can also lead to health issues in pregnant women.

The recall affects all Toxic Waste Nuclear Sludge candy that the company has sold since May 2009 including:
Toxic Waste® Nuclear Sludge® Cherry (UPC 0 89894 81901 1),
Toxic Waste® Nuclear Sludge® Green Apple (UPC 0 89894 81701 7)
Toxic Waste® Nuclear Sludge® Blue Raspberry (UPC 0 89894 81801 4)
Each individual piece has a net weight of 0.3 ounces and was sold individually, as part of a "party bag" or membership kit, and also packed in 30-, 80- or 120-count bag or a 120-count fishbowl.

The candy was sold nationwide in stores and through mail order. It was also distributed in Canada and in very limited quantities in Guatemala, Ireland, Jordan, Korea, Mexico and El Salvador. Consumers can call Eileen O'Neal at (317) 228-5012 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern, Monday through Friday for instructions for a refund.

-- In short, don't eat anything called Toxic Waste and you'll be okay. ;)
