Trip to Portland and Ride home

I visted Margaret a couple of weeks ago for Valentine's Day as well as my birthday. It was an AWESOME trip! I missed her (and still miss her) so much, so it was unbelievably great to see her.

A couple of days after I arrived it snowed 8". Pretty pretty. Margaret and I accompanied her friends to a big hill to go sledding. I hadn't been sledding for over 17 years so I was definitely game. I had a blast. The snow in general was great to have there. I love seeing snow, even if it's not always fun to walk/drive through.

V-Day was pretty much another day except with a few presents. Oh, and the lovliest love in the lovey love world.

My Birthday was wonderful. Best one I've had in a long while. I couldn't think of anyone better to spend it with. Margaret took me to an Awesome pub in town were I had Fish and Chips and she had Pan Fried Flounder with some veggies and Mashed potatoes (really, we shared). To quote la mochila on Dora The Explorer: "Num num num num num, Delicioso!"

On Friday night Margaret and I saw the play on which she had worked: "Noises Off." It was a hilarious farce about love triangles and drama surrounding the play within the play "Nothing On." 1st act: Final dress rehearsal. 2nd act: Opening night, back stage. 3rd act: another performance where everything is falling apart. The entire play had me laughing my pants off. between acts the whole set was turned about a pivot point 180deg. It was a pretty neat set except for a few design flaws. The cast was great and had a certain... special.. you know.

Myt favorite part of the trip (excluding Margaret, of course) was going to see Jim Gaffigan on Saturday night! Margaret bought tickets for his Beyond the Pale tour. He was HILARIOUS!!!!!!!!! We had perfect seats. His jokes were much funnier to us than they would have been in any other seat. After the show we waited around and he came out to the lobby for autogrpahs and pictures. Margaret and I got a picture of him and us on my cell phone camera and he signed my copy of his CD and her ticket. When taking the picture, we had to scoot closer and I accidentally bumped heads with Jim. His hair is so soft. Like a baby's!

My trip home was a long journey. My plane from Portland, ME arrived late to Laguardia and as I only had an hour layover in NY I missed my connecting flight. It was Delta's fault though (well, really Expedia's... and kind of mine) because of the short layover time for a flight that changed terminals, which in LGA is a hassle. This being so, I was comped a Hotel room for the night as well as given a seat on a 6:55 am Flight the next day and two meal vouchers worth $7 each! Yeah!

The hotel was pretty allright, kind of like a Holiday Inn and I was able to get there in time to get settled and get down to the restaurant before they stopped serving for the night. Had me a tasty meleagris gallopavo burger, that's Turkey Burger for the layman, and then got me some shut eye after watching some storm miracle stories on TLC or TWC or something.

The next morning I awoke at 3:30 filled with sunshine and lollipops and took the shuttle to the airport for my plane. There was a loooooooong line to check in and since they had changed my ticket I wasn't able to use the self-check kiosks. The Hilarious part about the whole ordeal is that Delta seemed to be severely misallocating their resources for the morning. It was 5:00 AM, and in all honesty only took me ~25 minutes to check in. However, the problem was that there were Four Delta employees checking in first class patrons (a line of 0-15 at any given time) and only 2 employees checking in a line of coach passengers at least 100 strong. I also suspect that just before I had arrived, there was only one. People with 6:00 am flights were getting really worried, especially since most people in the line were flying internationally and it would ruin their whole trip to have to figure out another flight.

I got to security by 5:30 and flowed through that line and got to the front at 5:45 where they proceeded to toss a bunch of 6:00AM passengers ahead of me. It was funny though, the people they bumped to the head of the line felt so bad, apologizing all the way. I capitalized upon this fact and charged each one $20.

I used my other meal voucher at Burger King. mmmm fast food breakfast... I don't think I had been to a Burger King any time in the last 17 years. I remember why. The last time must have been the same day I last went sledding.

The flight was allright and went by faster than I realized so Yay. I had this awesome new puzzle game I've never really played called Sudoku to keep me busy. You've probably never heard of it. I'm on the cutting edge.
