Time for some semblance of a proper update, yeah?
+ Study abroad thus far: GREAT! I've got a great bunch of friends in my flat and elsewhere (mostly from the program I'm here at Goldsmiths with) but most of them are American. But I've also got
drfaith101 here so I know a few other Brits here through her (who are lovely).
I posted a bunch of photos I've taken so far to Facebook
here and
here but I'll still be posting some of my favorites here when I get around to it. I've also posted all my Wizarding World of HP photos there too, which you can find if you snoop around~
SHOES/WALL = OTP ♥
Haha, a photo of me on Brick Lane a week or so ago, where I went shopping for my fug sweater (see last post).
+ Got back from a weekend in Edinburgh, Scotland yesterday!
It was great, but I wish we had more time. We mostly did touristy things and we also went to the Elephant House Cafe where JKR wrote some of HP. We also took some ~ghost tour~ at night to a gaveyard which is right by the cafe, actually. After all the creepy gory stuff our guide told us (dude in a trenchcoat who sounded like David Tennant, he was nice) that JKR prob got a lot of inspiration from the graveyard as well. She had lunches there and also there are a lot of graves with HP names! He showed us the grave of a Thomas Riddle and also a McGonagall, as well as a Lestrange. Apparently there are a lot of Potters in that graveyard too.
Basically, we spent the train ride there, the time we spent in the city, and the train ride back making a to of HP references. We passed by this beach on the train ride up and Rachel said, "This is where Dobby Died" Another friend of ours, Christoff, pointed out where Harry obviously fought off the Dementors in OotP. Basically, it was lolarious. Go to
this video and watch from around 1:00 - 4:05 to hear the hilarity. Oh and I narrate the last bits haha. But there is a bit from the ghost tour in there around 6:45.
Anyway, I took a lot of photos and it was a nice time. Oh but we pet
Greyfriars Bobby because it was supposed to give us good look...but I think it gave us bad luck. I got a horrible sore throat this morning, like sound like Louis Armstrong sore throat. From now on we're all blaming everything on Greyfriars Bobby.
So now I'm back in London! Tomorrow I'm going to meet up with my old friend Lauren from high school, who is in London for a bit before going to Berlin for her study abroad program. GOOD TIMES.
+
I wrote a shitton about the HBIC Lily Evans at a birthday discussion post at
hp_commonroom. READ IT~
+ So as some of you know, I'm IN LOVE already with the new gen of Skins. And I'm stanning the fuck out of Grace (the prettiest person Skins has ever had, truth) and Rich (lolol Snape looking metalhead kid) and shipping them like you wouldn't believe. The show seems to be setting them up too so just hfieowhgieowfheiwofhoewif.
THURSDAY. BE HERE. NOW. TOO MUCH SHAKING AND CRYING.
But please, Skins fandom. If I hear one more person saying the first episode was like Mean Girls I will fucking scream. Love Mean Girls but it's ridiculous how much people think that that movie started the entire "awful girls" genre. IT DIDN'T. Mini is only like Regina George in the sense that she's blonde, befriends before she shits all over somebody, and is an awful human being. Grace is not Karen, Liv is not Gretchen, and Franky is most certainly NOT Cady. Just, stop it. Goddamn.
Okay, I think that's it for now!
