Day two

Spent the next two days in Nagoya with my new friend Yoshi.

Nagoya is located between Tokyo and Osaka, and as such, it is like a cross between the two. The place is like a relaxed Tokyo, less people and as hectic, but the cultural influence of Osaka is strong. Especially with the cuisine, slang and accent.

Yoshi showed me around Nagoya, we spent time around Sakae (main shopping/commercial district) and Osu Kanon (which is a marketplace, kinda like Ameyoko in Tokyo.

Osu was full of all kinds of fun shops, including one that sold panda balaclava's. This was so stupid, I had to get it.

Nagoya is mainly famous for its food. Specifically for putting Miso in and on everything. Pretty much everything I have eaten here had miso. Tonkatsu (with miso paste), Chicken Wings (with miso), Rice Balls (with miso), Udon not only in miso soup, but the noodles itself have been infused with miso flavour. I did really enjoy it though.

The highlight for food is Sekai no Yamachan, which specializes in grilled and friend chicken wings. It's setup like an izakaya, so its for both a place for drinking and for eating. Pretty damn awesome.

If one ever goes to Nagoya - its definately worth visiting Yamachan.
