Very Tangential Valentine's Post

Happy multiple days since the 14th.

Aimee, your MGS valentine inspired me to make a comic of my own.

Now for other stuff. Warning: Super link-heavy, disposable piece of fanboyism, won't happen again I swear.

Wait is that First Kiss or Another First Kiss? Because they're very different songs.
Also, I dunno, Aimee! There's something about TMBG's 'love' songs and other songs eiusdem generis that's just really fascinating, they cover just a whole wealth of emotions and narratives that you'd never find in a traditional love song. And traditional love songs are all about the same thing, all sound alike, all require no critical thinking whatsoever. On the other hand, TMBG gets to write about relationships and employ the unreliable narrator or weave breakup tales where no one is really at fault and both parties end up hurting each other.

Also a post here makes a good point:
The part of the song that has been neglected in out commentary is:

"No one in the world ever gets what they want and that is beautiful

Everybody dies frustrated and sad and that is beautiful "

which I feel is true. I am not sure if the major issue is chaeting, but I think that he still wants to be with her because he realizes nothing is ever perfect.
A lot of people tend to focus on the 'everybody dies' part, but the point is 'and that is beautiful', that by struggling and failing it only serves to enrich the whole human experience and make love that much more significant.

So um, anyways, wall of text! I just finished my paintings.

Also, your faaaaaaaace ugh. My music sucks no more than your music! All music sucks no more than ALL OTHER MUSIC, for varying reasons, except for times when people are incapable of writing lyrics, singing music, or playing instruments.

Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it sucks, John MacDonald! TRY AGAIN.

Another First Kiss, which is excellent in my opinion. Then again, I am a hopeless romantic. Gross.

While many love songs all say basically the same thing, I guess I feel there is something to be said for happy endings, is all. Also, I'm not denying that songs about love framed differently-- about the different aspects and the more depressing aspects-- can be really interesting and beautiful, but I kind of cry at everything. I lean towards not needing extra reasons to contemplate depressing things related to love, possibly because I'm a coward.

However, I will consider your point of view and listen to some of these songs, because I understand what you mean about trying and failing making love more meaningful. (Also, those are cool lyrics.)

Also, paintings! Oh, art class. I AM EXCITED FOR AP ART. Except for the part where I'm going to DIE, but at least I am not going to die alone! ♥
