Around the early parts of a new year, you can find lots of change among people. Resolutions and all that. Resolutions tend to become failures to most, forgotten and abandoned as the first signs of spring start to appear. I tend to avoid this active form of failure as I can fail without resolutions quite easily. However, I do like discovering modified versions of the general idea.
A link from a blog led me to another blog about doing 101 preset things in 1001 days. Of course, not all of them were appealing, practical or even possible....but some were. Although I probably would not box myself in with time and numbers, I would like to explore some of the ideas.
Reduce your worldly possesions to 100 things: Now THAT is a challenge if I've ever seen one. And one that actually sounds pretty awesome. I've been so sick of "stuff" for so long that I've actually started dreading gifts. It sounds strange, but when people as what I "want", I say "NOTHING" and hope for the best. I'm going to work on this one. I'm not sure I can pull off 100, but the concept behind it has been with me for a while. Perhaps living in such a small area is what drives me to be a minimalist. Maybe the fact that I'm a slob who hates cleaning and would love nothing more than to have only 100 things to deal with is good enough reason. Think about that...100 things. I'm factoring in EVERYTHING...your clothes, including socks and underwear, beauty products, books, movies, cups, plates, sheets, pillows, bed, etc. Even your car counts...and everything inside IT. I probably won't reach the actual goal, but there are suggested modifications which I think are do-able.
