If Barbossa knew Jack Harkness better he would know that there are two Jacks around who are terrible at being inconspicious. ;-)
Bad things are bound to happen if pirates run out of alcohol. Hopefully there's another supply around?
"A sheer drop, might be miles and miles down." Well, that sounds familiar somehow. Although I don't expect either the Devil or the Racnoss showing up...
You love that thing. It's like your phallic symbol. You had to bring that up, didn't you? And the rest of the conversion is just... ROFL ;-)
I'm wondering: The Doctor can't detect his TARDIS key - how can he be sure he would have detected BRAIN technology?
And I'm sorry that I have to ask but I lost track somehow: Wasn't the object they hit Donna in the Master's TARDIS? Ten is NOT going to make this Donna's fault!!!
Hmmm, Olivia hitting on Will - that could get interesting. BTW, you know that you are creating certain vibes between Elizabeth and Barbossa, do you?
Yay for Cuddy going back to what she does best (apart from killing people with high heels): Bullying people to work ;-)
"Stay here and stay out of trouble," Barbossa growled as he disappeared over the edge of the ship. The Doctor could have told him that any form of phrasing "Don't wander off" doesn't work... And of course he would be the first in line to prove the point ;-)
This is really getting a treasure hunt - or an Indiana Jones movie... Sorry for the people on the island, though...
They're dealing with thieves and killers! Yeah, and the Doctor has never committed anything like that and is not the least bit dangerous and I'm the empress of China... LOL for Olivia hitting on the Doctor - and ROFL for the baby python... We aren't looking for a giant basilisk, are we?
Wondering about the carvings...
*running off to check if the psychic octopus is right again*
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Take that, psychic parakeet! The octopus always wins!
I think I meant that they'd run out of the alcohol Barbossa served with the dinner that got interrupted. So, there's more alcohol on board, just not opened.
Oh, it's not THAT sheer :D There's just some crazy fish down there.
Haha, but it's so OBVIOUS. At least with Ten. And yeah, mermaids were one of those other mythical creatures I swore we'd never include, but adding them has made for some of my favorite scenes so far!
The Doctor thinks he's sure he found BRAIN. However, let's also pretend the TARDIS is more sensitive and accurate than the Doctor :)
Yes, you have it right, but it won't turn out to be Donna's fault. Donna is too awesome. Ten is absolutely wrong about this hypothesis, but I included it to set up how badly the TARDIS can screw up time because it does in another storyline. You'll catch hints of it in one of the upcoming Foreman and Gwen chapters.
Elizabeth and Barbossa??? I've been setting them up as platonic friendly rivals... but that's an intriguing thought. In our fic, Barbossa seems to have more chemistry with everyone than even Jack Harkness.
Someone joked that Ianto and Cuddy would take over the world via administration if they ever got together. At the time, I shot down the idea because I didn't want to break up Ianto/Jack, but now... :D
Hehehe, the Doctor is indeed a hypocrite.
The goal is to make it more epic than Indiana Jones. But yeah, I think if you're going to do a treasure hunt, you should make it awesome. As for the people on the island, yeah.... it was a spur of the moment decision to make the tsunami as tragic as it was. I feel kinda bad, but it works better for the narrative.
No giant basilisk. The carvings are a hint about what we're looking for (and also tie into a way to diminish the island tragedy... it gets explained in the forthcoming Ch. 28.
