Update for those who want to know~

Jan 25, 2011 08:06

Been awhile since I've done an actual update, so I figure I'll let all my friends know what's up.

Work:
Walmart is fine, as far as work goes. The work isn't that difficult, and the pay is 'ok'. I'll be getting a raise in April. There are a few instances where certain people avoid hard work, or even easy work that just takes up time because they feel they 'don't have the time' to do it, and therefore make the rest of us do more work to make up for it.

Relationship:
Jenn and I are doing well. She overreacts sometimes, but I'm starting to get used to that. I'm told all girls do it. She makes me very happy as long as she's happy, and I'm looking forward to spending the rest of our lives together. Also, she got a haircut that's super cute and makes me want to kiss her.

Friends:
I don't get to hang out w/my friends much, anymore. We're just all so busy. I hope they're all doing well, though!

Recreation:
In my limited spare time between sleep, work, and Jenn, I try to play Magic, and Perfect World (aka: Fake WoW).
PW: I got my Assassin up to level 70ish, and that was my main goal for a long time. I have a couple other characters, but my 'sin' is my main. I'd like to play more, but it's so difficult to lvl quickly w/o being on for long periods of time and doing group quests and whatnot.
Magic: Muncey, my friend who owns a comic shop and runs Magic tournaments, got me to start running special tournaments on Saturdays. If I can somehow get Fridays and Saturdays off, he's even offered me a job to run all the tournaments for him, and pay me. What a fun job that would be! If I put in a request to close my availability, noteing that it's for another job, it should work, but who knows? Anyways, a new set of Magic is come'n out next month, and the cards I've seen look pretty cool.

There's a new (kinda) gametype that's getting more and more popular. It's called EDH, or Elder Dragon Highlander. The name will be changing pretty soon, though... however, I feel everyone will still call it EDH. First of all, the deck is made up of exactly 100 cards. No more, no less. Also, there can be no duplicate cards in the deck, other than basic lands. This is a change from most decks, as the normal rule is that you can have up to 4 copies of any one card. Another rule of EDH is that you can only play with certain colors. These colors are determined by the one card you choose to be your 'General' or 'Commander'. Your commander has to be a legendary creature. Whatever colors he is, are the only color spells you can have in your deck. Most people use a multicolored commander, or better yet, a 3 color commander. There just so happens to be a legendary dragon for every pairing of 3 colors. Some of which are known as 'elder dragons'. Hence the name of the game. The reason it's called 'Highlander' refers to the rule of duplicate cards in your deck: 'There can be only one'. A unique aspect of your commander, is that they don't stay in your deck. Instead, they sit like a mascot in exile, outside the game, in an area known as the command zone. You can cast them into play if need be, as if it were in your hand like normal, by paying their mana cost. If they would be destoyed or exiled, you may choose to put them back into the command zone, instead. You may 'recast' them again, but you must pay an additional 2 colorless mana, for each time they were put into the command zone. You'll have to keep track of this, somehow, thoughout the game. Along with the normal ways of winning the game, you can also lose the game if you have 21 points of combat damage on you from any one commander. You also need some way of keeping track of this. Other than that, the only other real rules to the game are that you get a free muligan at the start of the game, and an additional free muligan if you have 2 or less land cards in your opening hands. Also, even if you're starting the game, you get to draw a card. Everyone starts with 40 life, instead of 20. Oh, and there is only a small list of cards you're not allowed to play with. It's super fun, and if you play Magic at all, you should try it!
