Title: Chain Reaction [8/8]
Pairing: Zikyung
Rating: PG [?]
Summary: The story of how it all began. [Yes really]
Note: Sorry for the failure of a summary, but I couldn't write anything else without it sounding sucky. Since - as far as I know - there aren't any chaptered fics for Zikyung, and there are barely any fics for them full stop, I thought I'd get the ball rolling! Enjoy? [Also, the girls don't and wont have names~] Sorry for not updating in a while, I'm currently away BUT, there are -3- new chapters today to make up for it. This is the last chapter! If you've been reading all this time, thank you! [Also, the font keeps going weird...]
The moment Kyung heard that Jiho had dumped his girlfriend he wanted to jump and dance around in pure happiness, but then he heard the details of what happened and immediately became worried for Jiho. There was a time when they were younger and Jiho's parents were arguing a lot, they both thought they were going to get divorced and it hit Jiho really hard.
Kyung had come home one day to Jiho standing on his roof, threatening to throw himself off. He said that he didn't want to live if the people that made him hated each other. But he managed to convince him otherwise, he told him about how they still cared about him and how there were lots of other people who cared too, especially himself. He promised him that he'd always stick by his side, and he did. But although in the end Jiho's parents stayed together, every time that Jiho got depressed panic signals went off in Kyung's head.
So he went to visit him straight after school that day. When he rang the door bell his worried looking mother answered the door, when she saw it was him she looked visibly relieved. He told her not to worry and that he'd make sure Jiho was okay. He made his way to Jiho's room and knocked on the door, despite receiving no response Kyung entered anyway.
The opened door revealed Jiho curled up in his bed looking exhausted, gaunt and very sorry for himself, he couldn't help but feel bad for him too. He didn't even know what made him upset. He closed the door behind him and walked over to Jiho's bed and sat down beside him. “Will you tell me what's wrong?” He whispered, putting his hand on Jiho's shoulder gently. Jiho just continued to stare into nothing, not answering or even acknowledging Kyung's presence.
Jiho thought that if he ignored Kyung, pretended that he wasn't there, then maybe he would leave. He should just abandon him. He believed it would be better that way, but Kyung wasn't going to give up. “Yah, Woo Jiho. What the hell is wrong with you?” It felt like a slap in the face, and Jiho felt a little bit alive. Everyone had been walking on eggshells around him, but to have Kyung get angry with him, in a weird way, made him feel like he existed again. Him being angry brought out emotions, he felt ashamed. Ashamed for not answering, ashamed for being in the state he was, and then ashamed for what he did to his now ex-girlfriend.
Jiho finally moved, he looked up at Kyung, “I don't know...” The emotions stirring within him after long last made him feel like crying, tears prickling at the corners of his eyes. Kyung began to pull at his arm, “Come here.” Jiho sat up so he was side by side with him. Kyung then turned to him and enveloped him in a strong embrace. He whispered reassuring words to Jiho as he rubbed small circles on his back. All he wanted to do was hold him and tell him everything would be okay, no matter what happened he was going to be there for him. But he didn't know that that was the problem. As much as Jiho was taking comfort from him, he wished he would leave. Kyung was what was wrong with him. Of course, he couldn't say that.
So he just sat there in his warm embrace, half savouring the moment and half wishing it would be over. Kyung continued to tell him that everything would be fine, but Jiho thought that if he knew the truth then he wouldn't have said that. In fact, he wouldn't even be in the same room as him. He bet that if he told everyone the truth, not even his own mother would want to go near him, not that she was home often anyway.
Kyung had been 'consoling' Jiho for about 2 hours but he still didn't know what was wrong. Jiho wouldn't say anything, he couldn't say anything. He just stayed there, silent, listening to Kyung rambling and rambling about how everyone cared about him. After 2 hours of the same words Jiho wasn't becoming more convinced, he was becoming less convinced of what Kyung was saying. He had began not to care what he was saying and just tried to enjoy the sensation of having someone close to him. He missed it a lot. Obviously, he was very different from a girl but if Jiho had to choose his favourite person to hug, it would be Kyung. No matter what the weather was he was always warm, he was never sweaty though, he was the 'perfect temperature'.
Another 30 minutes passed and Kyung decided to finally let go of him take another crack at finding out what the problem was, he still didn't know that the problem was at the end of his nose, quite literally. He decided that the 'gentle' method was no good, so instead he decided to bug Jiho about it constantly until he got so angry that he would tell him just to get him to shut up.
“Jiho, what's wrong?” “Will you tell me?” “What's going on?” “Why are you so upset?” “I heard about what happened you know.” “Why did you do that?” “I thought you really liked her?” “Just answer me!” “Jiho, I'm really worried, just tell me what's up!” With each try becoming more and more desperate, Jiho's resolve was secretly crumbling as his annoyance grew and grew. “Woo Jiho, just tell me, please!” He snapped his head round and looked him straight in the eye. “You want to know what's wrong? Do you?” He received an exasperated 'Yes' as a reply. He then stood up and looked down to Kyung, and as calmly as he could, told him, “You. Kyung, you are the problem.” Kyung looked at him completely bewildered, he had no idea he'd done anything wrong, especially something that would make Jiho like that.
Kyung stood up, speechless for a moment, “What do you mean?” he finally asked, unable to think of something better to say. Jiho wanted to yell that Kyung was clueless, but it's not like he should know, and it's not like he would know. He half wished that he did know, just to make it easier for him, but at the same time it would make it more difficult for him because he'd probably lose him as a friend. Kyung on the other hand felt more confused than he ever had. He had no idea what was going on and was praying for someone to appear out of nowhere and explain everything to him.
Now standing facing each other, Jiho looked him in the eyes before finally exploding, “How can you do this to me?!” Kyung was stunned once again. “What are you doing to me?! I can't handle this!” The other barely managed to croak out another 'What do you mean?' as Jiho lunged forward, capturing Kyung's lips with his own. His hands cupped his face as he brought them as close as they could be, pressing on his lips. Kyung's mind had completely shut down. He just stood there rooted to the spot, unable to respond. Jiho was kissing him and he couldn't respond. Before he could do anything Jiho quickly moved back. “Oh my god. I'm so sorry. I didn't...” He collapsed to the floor, sitting in foetal position with his head in his hands. “You must hate me so much...”
Kyung's mind finally returned to him and he crouched next to him, “No, but why...why did you do that?” Without looking up Jiho whispered, “I like you...” Kyung felt like he had died and come back to life, Jiho really liked him. “How long?” He whispered back. Jiho held up 2 fingers and replied, “About 2 months...” Kyung grabbed him by the arm and pulled him up so they were both standing. Jiho finally met his gaze, and he was crying. Jiho panicked, what had he done? He should never have said anything. He should have just shut up. But then Kyung kissed him. At first, the kiss was nervous and gentle, but as he responded, Kyung deepened the kiss. Their mouths circled each other's, still too afraid to go any further, but content as they were.
When they finally pulled apart Jiho punched Kyung's arm playfully, “You could have told me and saved me all that drama!” They both smiled, probably the biggest smiles of their lives as they laughed. “But can you do me a favour?” Jiho said, holding Kyung's shoulders. “Anything.” He grinned back. “Go out with me?” Kyung returned Jiho's playful punch, “Yah, what kind of favour is that!” They both laughed, Kyung almost didn't want to speak again in fear of ruining the atmosphere, so Jiho broke the comfortable silence instead. “Well?” He grinned. He knew Kyung was going to say yes but after everything they'd been though, it would be stupid not to ask and anyway, Jiho secretly loved a cliché ending. “Well I did say I'd do anything...” “Yah!” “I mean, of course!” The new couple laughed again savouring the moment they'd only ever dreamt of.
“Who would have thought that after all of that drama, it would end like this.” Kyung mused as they sat on his bed snuggled up. “Hey, it's not the end, it's just the beginning!” Jiho proudly stated, earning another playful dig from Kyung. “God you're so cheesy.” He laughed, feigning shame. Jiho in turn pretended to be hurt. “But, you love it!” “No, no I don't Woo Jiho, only you do.” “You love me?” “No...Ow! I'm kidding!” “I'm sorry...” “I guess I should forgive you...” “You should.” “Hey!” From outside the door Jiho's mother could hear their laughing and muffled 'argument' and felt reassured that Jiho was okay as she wandered off to finish making food smiling, glad that Kyung was around.
