finally reading the manga version
Just got to the part of Black Butler when Ciel decidedly does NOT follow the Queen's directive to "rescue the children".
I'm reminded of Sebastian's statement earlier that Sebastian is obligated to protect Ciel's life, but if Ciel makes a mistake of his own accord, Ciel might suffer painful consequences while living.
