Did you know that Costa Rica has 2,500-3,000 earth quakes a day!!!!!!! The majority aren't strong enough on the richter scale so humans can't feel them but buildings sure can! That's why there aren't that many tall buildings here...not even in the city.
I should be writing in this thing more.
Latest, most exciting news....
-Ashley's pops is a new pops to a beautiful little girl, half venezuelan like me :). This makes Nicole Isabel Ashley's half-sister....Ashley's practically my sister...so that makes Nicole Isabel my new half, baby "sister" So I'm very happy. She's gorgeous and she smirks when she holds Ashley's finger. I can't wait to meet her!
-I got 100 on my first accounting test :)
-I'll start working at my dad's office (teaching english to some of his employees) on Thursday. Every Thursday.
-I think I might be starting Jazz classes next Monday :)
Other shtuff. Last week and this week have been very very stressful...tests in every class, projects, presentations...the real deal. I like keeping busy though. But my shoulders burn and my back hurts.
I'll start going to the gym tomorrow..I hope I keep it up.
I'll talk more about what I learned about Costa Rica today. Our tourism professor likes taking us on field trips almost every week, he says we can't learn tourism if we're stuck in a classroom, I won't argue with that! So today we went on the San Jose (capital of CR) City Tour. We didn't do the tour exactly like tourists do it because well, it's like 5 hours and we only had 2 and we were mostly evaluating it and looking at it from a different point of view more like the tour guide's point of view. It was really fun. They have a gold museum which are gold pieces from the pre-colombian era. They wanted to build it near the national theater but every architect who would show his work would be turned down because the museum would cover the theater from some point. So they finally chose a design and made it underground! It's like an upsidedown pyramide...with the tip pointing down so as you go down the rooms get smaller. We didn't get a chance to go in but I definetly wanna go soon. I've missed out on so much of this country, I really need to get out and explore more often. Next week we have another tour around there but from a historian's point of view, that'll be cool because I have no clue about Costa Rican history.
Some of you guys probably knew this already but Costa Rica's actual president won the nobel peace prize in 1987....that's pretty impressive. We drove by his house today and it's just this normal corner house with no real special or obvious security systems or anything, you can walk right in front of the gate which is like 8 feet away from the front door, just normally and you can even park next to it if you feel like it....you can take the president's parking spot hah! It was pretty cool to know that people like Mother Theresa and the Dalai Lama have been there before!
Kay that's enough...I'm begging to sound like a huge costa rica obsessed nerd.
I miss you guys.
Congratulations Chelsea on the engagement!!! :)
