Adventures in Illness

So the unknown illness I've contracted makes my neck feel as if it is swollen to the size of a watermelon. More specifically, my nodes feel like two large mangos. Rest assured, this is not visually obvious to the casual observer.

Rewind to last night and Kris taking benedryl to ensure a speedy and deep sleep. About 20 minutes away from sleep coma I decided that 1.) My bedroom was too cold to sleep in and 2.) the dogs needed to go potty before bedtime. Now, on any ordinary day the process of dealing with these two issues (they wouldn't even be issues) would be completely thoughtless. How I wish that would have been true.

First, I pulled the heater out of the attic and plugged it in figuring that by the time the dogs went to the bathroom and I was ready for bed, my room would be a toasty temperature. Next, I went downstairs to let Sancha out and as I was about to turn my back to walk inside I saw a huge 'coon out of the corner of my eye and my little pup chasing after it. Ack. There they went, right underneath the deck. I could pretty much feel them tangling below my feet. So while I yelled my swollen throat off, Sanch pretty much ignored me so I took out the garden hose and was able to get the 'coon out (which of course the dog chased). I finally got Sanch in the house, unsure if she had been cut due to how utterly dirty she was. After a thorough checking over during which, I also got dirty I discovered she was ok.

It doesn't end there. The benedryl has kicked in and I can tell at any moment my eyes are going to shut like an iron door and I'd be a mere paraplegic midget trying to fight it.

I start to smell something funny...burning. I walk upstairs to see smoke pouring out of the wall socket. Immediately I unplug the heater and the smoke continues to pour out. Oh shit. The socket is pretty damn hot but luckily, the wall was a normal temp. At this point, I kinda just wanted to sit on the floor and cry when I hear upchucking downstairs.

Ah yes, my beloved Sancha puked in the kitchen. Ugh. So after cleaning that up and cleaning myself up I went to bed in a semi-chilly room only to have a completely restless sleep and wishing I could amputate my neck all night.

Needless to say, I didn't go to work today and have spent the majority of the day sleeping on the couch and watching Alias.
