It's been a few weeks since I posted, so I figured a general update, with a smattering of whining over being over tired AGAIN, was in order.
Philly:
It was wicked awesome. We got a little turned around getting into the city but my mad Southern Jersey memory came in handy. Okay not really, but we'll pretend. We rolled in, found the hotel,
The Hilton Gardens by the convention center. The
room was HUGE and wonderful and had a king sized bed, a couch, mini fridge and decent bathroom. I only mention this because of the fridge and the sheer size of the room.
We settled in and head back out into the world around ten pm. Now for those of you who know the city will start laughing because that damn city closes shop at like 8 o'clock. We wandered the streets for a bit until settling for Hard Rock Café for a drink and dessert. There wasn't much else to do so we headed back to the room.
Saturday morning we got up, hunted down breakfast at this hole in the wall dinner where the waitress called me 'honey'. We hit
Reading Terminal Market which was made of awesome. That place is huge! We found a bunch of little stalls where I got apple butter, pear butter and home made peanut butter. We still haven't opened the pear butter, but I suspect that we will this weekend. Anyway, the noise of all the people, plus all the people in general really wiped me out at about 2 hours so Avie took me back to the room (I was so knocked out that I was concerned about making it on my own) and she meet Vinny back at the Market. I dozed some and read a bit before they came back about 30 minutes later.
Later that afternoon we hoped a cab over to
South Street, discovered a street fair that was less than interesting and wandered the streets a little. Our main goal was to find 'Zipperhead', a punk store that I had been in many years before. As it turns out, Zipperhead is no longer Zipperhead but
'Crash Bang Boom'. It was used to be on the main drag but moved to 4th street and basically sucks now. There wasn't much to choose from in the way of clothes basically made me a tad sad before salvius distracted me with
Maoz, a vegetarian place which was SO FRIKKIN GOOD!
Anyway, we spent a lot of time at South Street, specifically in
Mineralistic where Avie bought me a really cute frog! We got ice cream, wandered in and out of stores, bought comics and clothes. Basically I really dug it.
We eventually flagged down a cab because I was getting really exhausted and went in search of food. Which we didn't find until 9pm, but it was so worth it. It was this cute little Italian place where they made sure to have whatever we wanted.
Sunday we had breakfast at the
Down Home Diner which was okay, but oh well. We tried to hunt down Veggie Philly Cheese steaks, only to discover that they don't exist anymore, which of course made
gm_avievery sad. We packed up the room, loaded up the car and went BACK to South Street for
salvius' cheese steak, fries and more yummy food from Maoz for the car ride. We made it home in about 4 hours, with only one stop. More importantly I drove the entire way, which is a big deal since I hate driving.
Vinny's Birthday:
The next weekend we had a bunch of people up for salvius' birthday. A lot of people showed (including my parents) and much poker, cake, food and prezzies were had. It was a really nice weekend, I must say.
Double Exposure:
Wow we've been busy! Avie, Vinny and I have been working our little tails off, contacting game companies, guests and working on pretty much everything during the weeks. I'm relaxing into the assistant role nicely, if I do say so myself and keeping track of all sorts of things. Now if only google groups would work nicely, I'll be happy. That Sunday we hit Iron Man, which was awesome.
College:
I finished the semester last week and got a final grade of B+. I got an A on my paper, which really made me smile. My friend Kris and I studied our asses off for the final and I know I nailed it. Next semester we're going to be taking Cultural Anthropology, something that I’m really looking forward to. In theory we're going to start tackling Math in the Spring of 09.
Movies:
The past two weeks have been a LOT of movies. Like I said before, we saw 'Iron Man' and I loved it and would really like to see it again. Last friend we went and saw Prince Caspian which was also of the good, though I didn't care for the end. Maybe it was true to the story, but yeah. :p This week we're going to see Indiana Jones, which is even MORE of the awesome!
Music:
Two new artists to check our:
Marié Digby and
Lady Antebellum. I'm really digging both of them and if you have a chance, you should check them both.
Otherwise things have been good, if a bit busy. It's a good kind of busy, I must say. Now if I could just get some good sleep, I'll be a lot happier.
